I never experienced 'Alien Encounter' but I was thinking during the ridiculous Stitch encounter how frightening the previous attraction must have been. We went to this attraction during Extra Magic Hours and had no wait. I couldn't imagine wasting a FastPass on something so silly.

So WDI's turned to Stitch in their time in need. Yet again I have kids in my family that love the attraction.

When I looked at the CA, I noticed they were going to use the same technology as AE...yet have it "kid-friendly". For the binural sound to work, you need darkness. Little Kids+Darkness=Not a very good combination at all. Now when I went on SGE during a band trip to Flordia, I kept a open mind. I did like the character of Stitch, so hopefully the Imagineers would pull it off. Sadly I was not very happy when I got off it, while the AA's of Stitch and the DNA cannons were fantastic...it could not save a attraction I felt was dumbed down. Over the stay at WDW I noticed a good amount of parents taking their kids out early during the show, as well as a good amount of crying kids to prove my point of the effects are not kid friendly. So while it is nice hearing some people are liking SGE, I still consider it a failure is some ways due to the frantic changes WDI had to make in it's opening year. (Such as raising the height requirement twice to keep little kids out...even though little kids were their target audience with the humor.)

The look and poor "saturday morning" execution of the animation sticks out like a HUGE sore thumb when layered with the phyicality of the show as a whole. This is where ExTerrAE was a better experience, as they used full sets and actors to portray the XS aliens. Cutting between them and the real action happening in the theatre was 'believable' in the Disney tradition.

Both attractions deal with fantasy elements, so, I have no problem with traditional animation being used. I'm just personally not the biggest fan of Lilo and Stitch, but my kid is. I don't hate the movie, I just don't love it either. Same goes for the attraction. We see it because my kid loves it.

I think he's the best Disney (non-Pixar anyway) character they've created in the past decade. This was a terrible missed opportunity.
