I left the park this afternoon because I was tired and disgruntled, and was all set to forfeit my last hotel night and go home. But then I remembered: Seattle’s 40 degrees. Anaheim, 85. I need as much warmth as I can possibly get, so I decided to give it one more shot, and went back to do Soarin’, the Holiday Parade, Space, Believe, and Fantasmic. Yes, you can do them all in one night. I noticed the change when I was watching the parade, and it must have hit some cornball nerve within me, and suddenly there I was, the Disney freak I have always been but couldn’t quite find yet on this trip. I knew she was in there somewhere. About 7:30pm, it finally happened. One Holiday Parade and some Space Mountain later, I finally let it all go – the sadness, the loss – and I am so ok with being here, I’m going to have to buy an AP tomorrow. I didn’t think I would ever get there. I can’t think of a more powerful force than The Man to dig me out of that! 8:50pm: Sitting on the little steps by the music shop. Nice little writing nook. Well, I’m out of money, but I bought more time here with an Annual Pass, and almost cried to do it. I may starve tomorrow, but I’m here. Thank you Walt for bringing it home. So that’s it. Disney magic versus the overwhelming sadness and loss from the past two…no, now three Novembers. It has been quite the struggle to see who would prevail, but I’m happy to say that instead of going home early in a defeated lump of goo, I bought more time and an AP and am staying even longer. I found happiness. I have conquered November. Or maybe the change was brought about by the geekdork moment on Soarin’. This was prefaced by my moments in Space, where I got to see the track switch out by the wheelchair entrance. Yeah, huh? You know it. I can be just as happy watching backstage going’s on as the show itself. This time on Soarin’, I was in the center section at the end of the middle row, and then I saw it: the ride mechanism. My butchly heart pounded and surged. Hydraulics! Is each glider on its own path? I have to seeeeeeeeee!!! I only looked at the movie enough to see where it was in conjunction with the gliders so I could see them move. Yeah. Go me! Tonight, I saw the fireworks from the crowd on the right side of the castle, and had to cross the hub to get to Fantasmic when they were finished. On the way over, through the snow, I saw a man kneeling to a woman dressed in white, popping the question in the snow by the Partners statue with CM’s and guests cheering in the background. This was my first time seeing Fantasmic, and I sat in the misty seats right by the river. Further back would have been better to be able to see the whole show, but that was fun, too. The first show had been delayed, which delayed the fireworks, so there wasn’t much of a wait for the second show to start.
