The featured ride could be a Mayan pyramid log flume ride with the flume coming down the center where the steps would be. The ride itself would be a bit like Splash Mountain except that instead of cute furry animals there would be more menacing animatronic jaguars, anacondas, crocidiles etc. Perhaps Disney could work another deal with George Lucas and give it an Indiana Jones theme as well. Just an idea.....

Or even make an Up themed ride in tropical South America. Perhaps send riders in the tropical destination that Carl wanted to go to. In the ride, you could be chased by dogs down the massive waterfall with a few minor closecalls along the way thanks to Kevin. Dug, Russell, and Carl could also influence the ride so much, too. Just my 1, 2.

But then again, I suppose there could be a story behind it. Perhaps the water for the log flume could be coming from the magic spring of some Mayan high priest and the logs could look like dug out canoes. Just a thought.

Putyour arms around to hug a baby (20lb) hippotimus lololol

I know I did not name a lot of them but they can join in too.....
Then again, maybe it is not the best to get the animals "aquainted" with mankind, we all know how man treats animals....

Oh yeah, that might turn some heads

But I assume that you're envisioning the stereotypical "El Castillo" looking Mayan ruin(as opposed to the many other basic architectural designs of the Yukatan and down into Beliz, Guat., Hond. and El Salvador) and Disney World already has that wonder represented two times: Epcot Showcase and Coronado Springs pool. A 3rd time would be too much.

Also, the ride would have to center around an animal(s) and not focus too much on Mayan civilization. Panthers/jaguars and new world spider monkeys as you say would work out nicely..... maybe call it "Jaguar Falls".

Have you been to Xcaret near Playa Del Carmen(outside of Cancun)? Mayans were all up in those underground waterways and cenotes. But I didn't see rapids.... I just swam with the very slow current.

From what the Screamscape site is saying, however, it sounds like AK might get their own version of the Journey to the Center of the Earth attraction from TDK - I suppose you could call the lava monster from that attraction a "mythical" beast but there is certainly a much larger and richer collection of fantastic and mythical creatures in the annals of history and literature. On the other hand, JTTCOTE would provide the possibility of some kind of evening pyrotechnics show and it has the advantage of an existing blueprint from the attraction at TDR.

    No thank you.

I don't want to travel 20,000 miles to see something I can look out my back verandah and see for free.

I come to Disney for fantasy, not Australian scrub and bush.

Actually, I always liked the idea of having Ayers Rock as a massive show building that housed some kind of indoor attraction focussing on the Dreamtime from Aboriginal legend. There are an absolute MYRIAD number of ideas the imagineers could use for a show or attraction. There is the legend of the wagul that is a subterranean serpent and there is the yowie - kinda the Ozzie sasquatch.

I guess maybe when you see it you scream "YOWIE!!!!!!"

    ; )

But I always imagined the massive shape of Uluru(Ayers Rock)being a giant imposing weenie at the back of Epcot or somewhere that draws people and have this amazing sensory experience inside unlike anything they have ever seen before.

I just tire of the clichéd "Let's have kangaroos and koalas" line. In some parts of OZ, 'roos are vermin and are culled from helicopters.
