And then period reminiscent pieces for the desk I'm thinking retro-modern. Maybe framed pressed pennies, tickets, or other memorabilia. What do you guys think? You're all creative. Brainstorm with me - anything from paint color to staplers LOL.

I've also purchase some old tickets from ebay (no books, but individuals) that I was going to have mattted and framed.

Acck . . this could be a new obsession LOL

Of course, mine won't be happening for another few months, probably spring. But I'm the type of person that plans, collects and then makes the changes. LOL

Not just a few papers here n there, but stacks of paperwork piled up on desk and boxes of stuff taking up space cuzz we're fixin up the place. Currently the wall that my desk is near has the interior wall off with insulation exposed [blush] But I will describe some of my decor for now.

I collect vintage Disneyland souvenirs and memorabilia which is the reason why it ended up in my office, Mrs Thunder said years ago... "you're not decorating our house to look like Disneyland, take it to your room" So whenever I'd acquire something for my collection, I'd find a place on a shelf or cabinet or wall in my office. After a few years, much of it ended up in boxes and plastic bins because I have nowhere to put it all. My wall space is limited, so I was allowed to move my Autopia litho's into the main hall, as well as one curio cabinet of the delicate stuff.

In my office is a large desk which is against a wall with a window, the windows have shades, but on this one I made faux curtains out of some yardage of old Disneyland material I bought on eBay. On the window sill are various pieces, a Marx metal wind up Disneyland train in a custom case, a few Disneyland coffee mugs, a Big Al ceramic bank, a Disneyland clock. Next to my desk is a tall metal file cabinet, the side of the cabinet is almost like a partition wall at the left side of my desk [and acts as a fence to keep paperwork and stuff from falling over the side] on the side that faces me are a few select Disneyland decals and magnets. A set of retro Tomarrowland attraction vehicles that were sold in 98, Fantasmic, Tinkerbell w/ Disneyland logo, and a few more. A stack of Disneyland stationary and note cards are on the corner of my desk, but I rarely use them, especially the older stuff, I've had a Tomorrowland notepad with magnetic backing hanging there for over 5 years, I find it hard to use it for general notes, but it's there.

As I mentioned I have limited wall space, my office is actually a converted enclosed patio, it has more window space than walls, however I made use of what area I could. Since the wall area is narrow, I put a few small things in frames [does the E-ticket in frame idea sound familiar?] I have a few 8 X 10 press kit photos in frames, one of Walt & Mickey riding in steamer on Main ST, one of the original opening of MSEP [my fave DL show] one of Disneyland hotel, a signed photo of Bob Gurr standing next to an old Autopia car, some pictures of me with various Disney imagineers I have encountered at events. Where I find space that I think needs to be filled, I have many Disneyland souvenirs that I'll hang up, DL good-luck horseshoe, and misc stuff like that.

Since the room was a patio, the ceiling is higher on one side than the other, where there is wall space above the windows, I have old DL pennant/flags [my favorite is an actual souvenir from my first childhood DL visit in 1964] Some vintage metal DL trays.

I made a sign post with arrows pointing in the proper directions that say "Disneyland 28 miles", "Walt Disney World 2500 miles" , "Tokyo Disneyland 5478 Miles" and "Disneyland Paris 5660 miles" I have made a few custom DL decorations and things. I am obsessed with the Disneyland D, I have burned it into wooden boxes, made a rubber stamp of it, doodle it a lot, have it on window of wife's car, etc.

On my desk is a vintage Disneyland clock radio [very Kitsch] a space mountain picture frame thingy with family pics at the park, a recent retro looking DL sign picture frame with family pic. A custom made retro looking box covered in vintage paper from DL. A Golden Horseshoe Saloon souvenir boot mug I use as a pencil holder for DL pens, DL ruler, and DL slide rule. I dont use these, they are more for the decor. Under the glass that protects my desktop, is some favorite Disneyland paper items. I must admit however, as a paper/ephemera collector, I cheated, I didnt want to ruin my original pieces, so some I scanned and printed out the replicas that are under the glass, the originals are stored with all my other DL paper collection.

On my shelf unit which is supposed to be an entertainment center, are lots of Disneyland books and a few records. A shelf for Disneyland souvenir pictorial guides from 55 - now. etc.

I intended to do the entire room in a googie retro tomorrowland motif, however right now it's a clutter fest. I did buy some old things like an atomic clock, some googie hanging lamps, and a replica boomerang shape table.

At least 3 or 4 times a year I banter back n forth over buying an old Autopia car body. If I had room for it, it would be the center of my office.

[sigh] now I am forced to pick up, finish that wall, and take some pictures ;)

You've actually given me a lot of great ideas.

And don't be embarrassed! Aren't offices SUPPOSED to look like a hurricane, tornado and earthquake all happened simultaneously? If not, I'm in trouble LOL!
