The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Beating me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help because I fall faster than you can run. I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort. Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm. For the last time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom. If by some miracle I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge and try to pull the door open. I must exit through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years--canine or feline attendance is not mandatory. The proper order is kiss me, then go smell the other dog or cat's butt. I cannot stress this enough! To pacify you, my dear pets, I have posted the following message on our front door: To All Non-Pet Owners Who Visit & Like to Complain About MY Pets 1. They live here. You don't. 2. If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture. (That's why they call it "fur"niture.) 3. I like my pets a lot better than I like most people. 4. To you, it's an animal. To me, he/she is an adopted son/daughter who is short, hairy, walks on all fours and doesn't speak clearly. Remember: Dogs and cats are better than kids because they: 1. Eat less 2. Don't ask for money all the time 3. Are easier to train 4. Usually come when called 5. Never drive your car 6. Don't hang out with drug-using friends 7. Don't smoke or drink 8. Don't worry about having to buy the latest fashions 9. Don't wear your clothes 10. Don't need a gazillion dollars for college, and 11. If they get pregnant, you can sell their children.

The cat is allowed on one kitchen counter, but not if I'm cooking and have ingredients there. One time, I was making noodle soup and had cabbage in it, and it was sitting in the bowl, and the cat jumped up to sniff at it. I figured, what the heck, she'll sniff at it, won't be interested and then will leave me alone. She sniffed at it ... and then proceeded to try to drag a piece of the cabbage out of the bowl. What the heck kind of cat likes cooked cabbage? But if we're having buffalo wings at home and she's interested, I let her sniff those - and she backs away quickly as if I just slapped her. Apparently, kitty doesn't like vinegar. > The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. The cat likes to start in the kitchen, come round the living room and then up the two half-flights of stairs as my husband and I are sitting on the sofa watching TV. We just look at each other. cats are better than kids because: I can have food and water out and have the electronic litter box available, and the cat is taken care of. /cs

I recall reading once that if you have kity scratching up a specific area, or if kitty has an accident in one place and you want to make sure it doens't happen again, just spray it with a bit of vinegar/water solution, and that'll keep kitty away. Oh, and there was a place here in Houston that sold prairie dogs as pets for a while - that tripped me out, man! lol
Originally Posted By avromark Chinchillas are so soft, however like hedgehogs they need to be socialized. Hedgehogs are nice in that they are mammals, not rodents. As well hedgehogs are very soft on their underside. One of our hedgehogs was traumatized by one of my siblings so he is anti-social. You really can't pet him. But he does wait for everyone to leave in the morning. He hisses and raises his quills, but he does seem disappointed if you don't greet him. Maybe he's just imitating one of the seven dwarfs. This one loves meal worms and has been known to try to get into the meal worm container and try to eat them all. One is now blind , this one also has very short legs so he waddles when he walks. You have to watch him carefully because he tends to run into things at "full steam" if left on a table he will run right off the edge. This one will only eat meal worms if they've been boiled. This ones favourite treat is strawberries, he'll get a "red beard" when he eats them. The third one likes to "watch" TV, chew on dust cloths, this one likes ONE brand of kitten food, won't eat hedgehog food, won't eat meal worms. This one is the only one who likes grapes. He's also the least active, won't run in his wheel. He never balls up on you. Amazing how animals each have their own personality huh? My kittie is thin, very active, has her favourite chair, her favourite window ledge, is very social, likes to show you her umm "friends", rubs against you, jumps into your lap, very people oriented kittie. It's legal to have sugar gliders, ferrets, chins, degus, hedgehogs etc here.
