Anyway today I needed to head to Wide World of Sports to pick up my stuff for Saturday's 10K and decided to stop by Hollywood Studios before that. So here is why I am a convert.

Hoppped in my car at 11:45am. Stopped at a light before the highway and logged onto My Disney Experience. Made FP+ reservations for Toy Story Mania at 12pm and Star Tours for 1pm. Got into the park at 12:15, rode Toy Story Mania (waited 10 mins in the FP lane) exited the attraction, walked down NY Street and through the Muppet Area including some shops. Got to Star Tours at 1pm and was out of the park and back to my car by 1:25pm. Then went to Wide World of Sports.

I would have never been able to get a FP for Toy Story Mania in the past that late in the day. The Standby Line was 90 mins long which means I would have avoided the attraction all together. I could have done a third attraction but needed to get home. Love my MagicBand and love FP+. I am a convert.

We also took advantage of the "there's no other way I'd ever get to ride this"-type FPs and did TSMM, Soarin, and Peter Pan, all of which we would have completely passed over otherwise. It will be interesting to see how these types of guests impact the availability

I find it curious that you were able to book just 2 attractions. Every report I've read (and my personal experiences) indicate that they force everybody to make 3. I wonder if the settings are different for APs than hotel guests

And good luck in the 10K! I'll be down there running on Saturday and Sunday (I've even got a costume for Sunday, which is a first for me), so maybe we'll see each other along the way

I can't think of any reason why, though, that it would be advantageous for Disney to force the three on you. All you need to do is use one to negate your ability to get a FP at any other park that day.

It gives them the ability to try and manipulate crowd flow through the park. If they can get you into World Showcase right at 11, or keep you in Future World late into the evening, the park overall will feel less crowded since everybody will be more evenly distributed. We know that you don't need a 6:30pm FP to get on Living with the Land or SSE, but most casual visitors will probably dutifully show up at their appointed time

I wonder if the credit card guarantee for dining reservations was done in part to make people think that all of their reservations are set in stone. Obviously, FP+ is quite flexible, but a lot of people are getting to WDW with a pretty rigid framework in place for their visit

When I used it in October, I was able to get my three picks, then select one and change its time. I would think if I could do that on my phone app, you ought to be able to do it at home. Unless of course things have changed.

From the fairly straightforward instructions, you select your 3 attractions, rank them in order of importance (though I never had trouble getting all 3), and it gives you 4 pre-selected sets that you can choose from. I ended up going back and messing with the order several times until I found a set that worked for us.

I don't need total control, but it would have been nice to say that I wanted to have my group of FPs generally in the morning, afternoon, or evening. This would give us more flexibility to park hop (heaven forbid, since it's not written into the FP+ system currently) and/or accommodate our early morning runDisney races

Add that to the sins of MM+. It encourages texting and driving.

I am not sure why people aren't excited about FP+. I have been very happy with it.

In an unrelated thing. I hadn't been out to Wide World of Sports in years. It certainly has grown a lot.

Because my parents are locals, so I stay with them. I do not have the ability to use Magic Bands, I can't reserve ride times. I have to arrive at the park, find a kiosk line that is not so long as to remove any advantage FP supposedly offers. And once I have my selections, I can't use the app to modify the times. So if I'm back at Japan, when I realize I'm not going to make my Mission:Space window, I can't change it because I can't use the app, and the only FP+ kiosk locations in World Showcase are either right by the International Gateway turnstyles, or one single person standing in the middle of the crowded Norway area (because Maelstrom used to have FP).

My Dad went to the park with his cousin, last week. My Dad tried to go to a couple kiosk lines, but gave up when he waited 5-10 minutes without any movement in line, and he realized that there were fewer CM's with datapads available than there were when he and I went to the parks in January during the initial couple of days of use by day guests.

And I doubt that since my parents are about 3 months away from a Silver Pass, I'm never going to be eligible for Magic Band use, online reservations. Despite, being able to have one of those is supposed to be a reward for years of service, I'm sure "guests of CM's" will always be at the very back of the line for FP+ because we won't have ticket media in advance. Despite the fact, that I still spend thousands of dollars per year at WDW. No, they aren't in the "resort stay" or "admission" columns but solely in the merchandise and food columns. I am a pin collector, with someone who can go to the parks whenever I need something, so I'm spending usually at least $100 per month, even though I'm not even there.

The next trip my DH and I will be traveling with locals, and a couple of people that will staying onsite, and so I'm nervous about how this is going to work so we can all tour the park together.

So tell me exactly why I should be excited?

I'm still curious to see how it works during peak times like Spring Break and summer.

I did notice that the FP's did appear in my My Disney Experience account but since I didn't need to change any times I didn't try. I think there is a learning curve and we have found that some kiosks are less crowded then others.

The sky is always falling around here. You should have been around when there was a huge debate about a new unthemed wheelchair ramp at the Haunted Mansion.

A common complaint for the MyM+ is that it would reuin the spontanity of it all. But sounds like you can reserve on a whim.

This is one of the silliest things about the FP+ booking process. I don't know why you can't just select the 3 you want, then select the times for them, all in one step. You have to accept their choices, then go back 1 by 1 and make changes. Very cumbersome, but it can be done.
