When I left for work, there was just a bit on the ground, but the cars parked along our street were well covered. Our neighborhood wasn't hit as hard as some others - it was similar to LVBelle's. :)

Nothing funnier (well, maybe there is ;-) than watching news footage of tourists walking the Strip in summer clothes... with snow on the palm trees! *LOL* "I thought it was always 100 degrees or more in Las Vegas!" DOH!

I feel really bad for everyone that has been without power and have had really bad storms.

My mom was going back to Pahrump this afternoon but not over the mountain.

It amazes me too is that they close the freeway for a snow storm but in other parts of the country, it is everyday life in the same storms.

Tell your mom to take it nice and slow... She'll be fine! :)

I guess it was pretty much socked-in out in BC. With all the wrecks that happen every day in parts of the country that regularly get snow, it might be just as well that they closed the highway to Searchlight this morning. Even areas that are used to it have plenty of goofballs behind the wheel. A friend of mine in Kansas was telling me that truck and SUV drivers regularly do 70 mph in ice and snow because - like the idiots on our roads - they think they're invincible.

I'd never make it in snow country and I really don't want to try. ;-)

And funny thing - this week on 'las vegas' (nbc) was their christmas special, and it snowed. Coincidence?
