The ride doesn't stick that far out into the parking lot, and it can't be built underneath the old lot either. I also remember the Eeyore lot being a bit further out since the areas were all in alphabetical order...lol, I miss the old lot.

If you look at some old aerial maps and some new ones you can see where it took over part of the lot. I was working in Guest Relations while this attraction was being built so we saw quite a bit of the construction first hand behind City Hall. Let me see if I can find some online...anyone know where to find old aerial maps?

The new building took up some of the space in the old parking lot, but with the monorail beam getting moved out, there was an expansion of the backstage area there. I remember that there was some of the Eyeore lot left over when they had built it, so it didn't take up the whole thing.

no, it's still there but you do need a friendly CM with a MagLight to help you see it.

I was deliberately looking and a CM said "you're not going to find it." He told me to wait til I get to the front of the line. So I asked for a flashlight; he didn't have one, but another CM did. He then pointed the light at the right side and said to follow the light. He moved the flashlight to the left and lo and behold there's a huge Eeyore parking lot sign in the corner.

You know, I was at DL between the years '91-'94 and I knew they were building the attraction; I just never noticed that a parking lot was taken out. I never noticed that they had to move the monorail as well.

I find this funny: I remember my family and I walking from the DL Hotel to the park and we were somewhat tired...now with Downtown Disney it's a breeze. :)

And is it me, or did the Monorail lines become super-long when they started building DCA? Before then, I don't recall the Monorail lines being so long, or having to wait so long for the train to arrive.

And why did they only run one train when they were building DCA? I remember this in '98 when it was such a pain to wait for.

    Mail sent, Shiva.

    I'd love to see them.

My memories of the building of the big green building include watching the interior of it being built (before the exterior walls were built). I have some photos somewhere and you can easily see the ramps where the track is. Very cool. If they turn up soon, I'll scan them and post them somewhere for y'all to see!

The easiet way to figure out how the monorail track was rerouted is to look at an aerial photo of Disneyland and see where the angle of the Pirates show building is. The track used to parallel that.

The reason the monorail lines were so long while DCA was being built was because a section of the beam was removed. The monorail trains were run back and forth over the same track-- so it took longer to wait as the same train (or two in a complicated maneuver) was run back and forth.

Look between the Indy building and the Pirates building. That's where the monorail track used to run. And the Eeyore parking lot was just on the other side.

I remember taking the Monorail at night when Indy was under construction and being able to see the track and other good stuff thanks to the work lighting inside the mesh walls. Very cool!

I was in heaven. Then to top it all off, a second CM escorted us the rest of the way through reminding us of all the other hidden mickeys in the ride and queue and took us right to the ride. It was my sister-in-law's first trip to Disneyland and she was amazed that the CMs were so willing to help us with seeing the sign and then everything they did afterwards. It was one of my all time greatest disney experiences and I wrote a page and a half thank you to the CMs who made it happen.
