I do know of a case on the roller coaster Deparado, where a gentleman lost a lens, and then caught it in his mouth during a windy ride.

I know that the ride is not at Disneyland or Disney's California Adenture. Will the sunglasses protect you from getting splashed on Splash Mountain and Grizzly River Rapids, and Jurrassic Park, Perilous Plunge,Bigfoot Rapids...etc?

My contacts/eyes dry out very easily, and I don't have much trouble at DLR at all (including the fall months).

On Splash Mountain you don't usually get very wet, but it does occasionally happen. Sunglasses should be adequate protection for your eyes. You can get completely drenched on GRR, but again, sunglasses will protect your contacts. I haven't been to the other parks in the area, so I can't help you with those questions.

I know I'm talking about glasses and not contact lenses .. but it's just to give you the idea how much water .. and force there is on this ride that can wreak havoc for your lenses.

Nothing to really be worried about, but nice to have the spare pair, just in case.

The Desparado is in the Desert, along the California-Nevada border.

I never had a problem on any of the rides. We rode GRR 3 times in a row and I didn't have one problem with them. I thought I would have troubles when we rode Screamin' - but still no issues.

I never needed my drops or anything. Of course, I always carry them with me just in case, and always bring extra contacts, but like I said, I didn't have one problem with them the whole 5 days we were there!

I'm more concerned with irritation from wind than water, so usually wear my sunglasses on California Screamin'.

On Splash Mountain, I usually look up (and at, because my DH and I love to 'mug') the camera as we head into the drop, but then duck my head down somewhat into the mist and the splash. I do this in an attempt to not get my hair too soaked, but it also keeps most of that pretty yicky water off of my face.

I've never had a moment at Disneyland where I thought I might lose or damage a contact lense. I do, however, always bring an extra pair in my suitcase. Though my eyes are REAL bad, the ride home to Las Vegas would be dizzying without clear vision.

Oh... And the air in Anaheim is wonderful! Not too humid, but close enough to the ocean to be pleasantly 'not-dry.' :)

I wear my lenses in the shower and I've accidentally worn them to bed twice - probably not good for my eyes, but still not a problem there.

Regarding dryness. I live in Colorado (very dry), and do not wear my contacts for more than a few hours. I would wear them all day were it not for the fact that I am now into bifocals. I can read small print with contacts, its just harder.

Whenever I go to more humid climes I have no problem wearing my lenses all day. Definitely take the moisterizing drops with you.

Fast rides are so much more fun with contacts than with eyeglasses.

Just take a spare lens along in case you need it!

I agree with MomofPrincess, I think wearing my glasses would be a bigger pain!
