I think TDLFAN has summed up why there is so much more trash than before. I really think that the selling of bottled drinks is by far the biggest trash generator. Even though Disney has recycle cans all over there parks most people are too lazy to put there bottled drinks in them. They cause way more trash than soda fountain cups. I always put my bottled drinks in the recycle bins but I am willing to walk a little further to do that but most lazy americans aren't.

Yes more food and drink carts create more trash, but that doesn't mean people have to throw it on the ground.

Also, once upon a time when watching HISTA, the "Disney Sweeping People" joke was funny. It no longer is, as there does not seem to be as many custodials around anymore. Sad but true.

But what is interesting is that DLP, that used to also suffer, seemed far cleaner than WDW on ur last visit (and it was very busy).

Exactly! But Disney also has the responsability to increase custodial staffings if they add more to the problem, as is the case with the surplus of vending carts. But you are right. One of my biggest petpeeves at the park is seeing how much trash guests throw on the floor and WORST! they leave it sitting on top of trash cans instead of putting it INSIDE the receptacles!! Morons!!

    <<

Correct. Even on my walk around the MK yesterday, the park was very clean of discarded debris, but the stains of dirt on the floor are far too visible and unsightly.

    >> there does not seem to be as many custodials around anymore. Sad but true. <<

How long have I been saying this??
Dave dear..when you get to go to TDL, play the "count the custodial" game.. Choose any spot in the park. Stop, and then slowly, do a 360-turn as you count how many custodial CMs you see in one sweeping (no pun intended) 360-degree look. My record? 12 of them. The smallest number I have counted? 4.

    OUCH!!! Now THAT is bad!!!

I don't know if you should or not. I guess I could start a poll to find out. No...you would probably wreck that one too. :)

In the case of a trash can being full, I can sort of see this being slightly better than just chucking something into the street (of course, moving along and finding another can would be even better lol). If the can wasn't full though, what's the point.

They are simply too lazy to go the extra inch? Or is it a germ phobia thing or something?

    I don't really get it.

    I saw just three once.

And would you believe they weren't even working? They were just goofing around and banging on their trash cans and cracking jokes!

I guess the Tokyo hiring proceedure ain't what it used to be!

Something that never ceases to amaze me is that no matter how many times people are told that the real danger of illness comes from not being exposed to "some" germs it isn't taken seriously. If your body cannot build up anti-bodies to fight off germs eventually one will "accidentally" become exposed to a severe strain and get very ill from it.

So the obsession with germ avoidance can, in the long run, be more life threatening that facing them head on.

Sorry about the "off topic" turn. Now back to the pole.

That is what happens when they bring Americans to work at TDR. They bring with them the same lazy attitude about "work" that is sending WDW down the path of disaster.

On a side note... God! I miss Gorgeous!

I strongly suggest you look at the latest statics for productvity of workers around the World. Just for curiosities sake, how much do CM make at DLP, and TDR. Not that it should have a bar eing on cleanliness or anything to do with this poll.
