I'm getting to the age (61) where walking and standing in line 10 hours a day to experience 1 hour of "ride time" just doesn't seem like a good trade-off. I still love the atmosphere in the parks, but is atmosphere worth $100 a day admission? I wish they would sell reduced price admission for those 60 and older that would give access to the parks and maybe a limited number of attractions. At this time I satisfy my Disney addiction with the Disney Cruise Lines... better value and less walking!

In some ways I still love the parks. I can still walk around EPCOT and be enthralled by the atmosphere. But I also find the crass commercialism a bit of a turn off. I don't begrudge Disney making money but it just seems so forced now as compared to the past. I am also disappointed by the loss of the quaint little things that Disney made no money off of but heightened the experience. Main Street really falls into this area for me. I like things like the expanded Candy shop but hate that the Cinema and Magic Shop are gone and the Fire House is a store. It is that kind of stuff that I find annoying.

Lastly, I would say some of my burnout comes from my perceived lack of manners from today's guests. Hopping on a monorail and being squeezed by two or three double wide strollers, the inability to walk down sidewalks without being hit, wheelchairs everywhere you turn, people being rude and demanding and the throw in FP, which has ruined the experience in my opinion for a lot of reasons, makes it harder for me to enjoy the parks.

Till I got to go to the preview center. For me it is about what you guys said. i'm just tired of all the atmosphere and the lets charge for evything Idea. I ilk et o go and ride a few rides. But I can't do the standing in line thing and yes I could get a Motorized chair cause of back and leg problems but i still feel i could do it . But it does where me out . Just getting older and the thing about cheaper tickets for us fellow of age is a great idea. The cruise I would love to do and I know they have an area for adults. But I would feel like I was trapped on a floating mall with children and no where to go. A lot of this question is I got to go to Hawaii lat yr after being ill for many yrs and Im better now and . It was great we spent 8 days of just relaxing at our resort and things like that without feeling like we have to do this because we paid for it. Like when people have the attitude and I had that for many years at Disney . Do as much as possiable . cause your are paying a lot of money for it. Now I have the time. But I just want to take the time and enjoy a few rides that I can do and just go around and enjoy the atmosphere . Thansk guys you have said what I was thing. For all of you I will see you in Maui.

Things went better on our 2008 and 2011 trips (the 2011 trip being the first one without my Mom, who died of cancer the year before). It's all about personal experience...At least that's how I feel.

    Have fun

As a matter of fact, my wife and I are heading down in 2 weeks and to try and get excited we've pulled out all of our old vacation planning videos from past years and started watching them. I have 2 young grandson's now and can't wait until they are a bit older so we can bring them and have them be old enough as to not be part of the stroller parade.

I hope all is well with the heart, sounds like you have to stay away from AK.

When I visited I would ask them to visit a park with us one day while we were there. They would meet us, do a "greatest hits" tour in 2-3 hours, and then want to leave for the day.

They tired of Orlando after about 8 years and moved back to Minnesota. SIL missed her family, and both had difficulty finding well-paying jobs in the Orlando tourist-dominated economy.

On the other hand, their two adult daughters love the Orlando area and have remained there.

I actually like Central Florida a lot, but I'd never move there just because Disney is nearby. Then again, I visit Orlando regularly and haven't been to WDW in a couple years because there's nothing new that I've wanted to see.

My late wife and I seriously considered Orlando as a place to retire because we loved WDW, but we decided against it.

Will you ever be comfortable in the extreme heat and humidity of an Oralndo Summer?

Will you feel "at home" in Orlando? Get away from the tourist areas and see what the surrounding areas are really like. We ended up not really liking Orlando all that much.

Are you ready to face Hurricane season every year? Orlando is far enough inland that you never have to fear for your life, but you CAN face great inconvenience. More that once my brother spend time without power following a hurricane... in the case of Floyd it was over a week. Try living in central Florida that time of year without air-conditioning.

Can you reasonably expect to find a job that pays decently? Orlando is dominated by the tourist industry and the wages are low. Branson MO where I ended up retiring is the same way... I would have NEVER come here if I had to make a living. With my pension and savings, and Social Security in the future, I fortunately don't need to work. Most jobs in Branson are seasonal, part time, and minimum wage. Orlando is not much different.

I am his partner and he is willing to answer your questions and maybe try and undo what he did the other night and explain why he was so upset about what he wrote and attacked some people on here for no reason.
But he feels like one person was just being cruel and insensitive and to explain that person needs to apologize in return to him.
