I don't think the Marketing department knows how to sell Disney World anymore without a promotion going on. Since they don't promote individual attraction openings anymore they have to come up with some fake "celebration" to promote instead. It's all getting pretty old, and most of us see through it as nothing more than marketing crap - but they do it anyway. I think they're afraid that if they don't have some celebration or other to promote, people won't come, and will instead wait for a special event.
