I dont think it was cut for being too expensive to make, I think it was cut cuz it would have made the movie too action & boyish looking...Mulan 2 looked like it was made to fit in with the current Princess line of merchandise, along with those awful looking Princess videos that basically recycles footage from all the past Princess films. They probably wanted this film to be appealing to the same target audience that they aim their Princess merch for, & that opening scence would have been well, just too "shonen" anime if you think about it... the other thing that bugged me was how off model some of the characters were, especially Ling, Mulan & Shang(boy poor Shang)... also I had no idea Lucy Lui was in this, why didnt they hype her role in this more? And why was Michelle Kwan given such a throwaway role? whatever, just another Dtv in the assembly line I guess. This one wasnt as painful to sit thru as some others have been though, so I guess I'll hang on to it, unlike Lady & the Tramp 2 & 101 Dalmations 2, which ended up being Ebay bound...
