All in all I like it a lot, but I can't see how it is the best attraction ever.

But yeah, I have to agree also. While I feel Journey is THE ride to hit when you are there (assuming you like thrill rides), I don't think it's anyway close to "best ride every" category. But then again, I'm not sure what is. Everyone has their own taste and for every 100 people that thinks POTC is one of the greatest rides ever, another 100 will tell you just the opposite.

But yeah, I like Journey alot and rode it 5 times straight during a REALLY slow day at the park last year, but it has to be a little longer and a little more thrilling to be considered something so great.

Frankly, I think it's a matter of opinion. I love Stormrider (a LOT!), yet some diehard DisneySea fans hate it and can't believe anyone likes it.

As for Journey, honestly I think if Indy had never been created (yeah, I know, what if...) and Journey came along it would be blowing people away even more than it is (it IS a very popular ride, most popular in the park along with Indy I believe??).

    No arguments here, Japayuki! :D

I must admit that I enjoy it, but have been underwhelmed by it since opening. It was sold as the next generation Test Track with an emphasis on thrills and storyline. I think it falls down on both. The ride is too short, lacks any really coherent story (unusual for TDR too, as they tend to lay the narration on thick, see 20k Leagues for that) and has too few AAs to make a significant impact. The Lava Monster is also just not scary enough. I just don't find that the ride engages me at all.

X, you are right about the ride popularity. I must admit that I absolutely detest StormRider (and I don't detest much I can assure you!). I find it deeply uninspiring and hardly a step on from Star Tours/Body Wars. Little humour and I find the FX on the footage to be amateurish. I just don't find it enjoyable at all. In fact, I don't think we have ridden it on our last few trips to TDS!

Little humour?? Come on!! Capt. Dave is a RIOT! I LOVE when he asks for an ashtray just as they're taking off, and then pretends he can't hear Mission Control when they yell to abort the mission...funny, funny stuff.

Oh, and about the visuals, I admit they aren't the BEST, but I LOVE the audio system and I think that adds a lot to the whole thing.

Like, when the helicoptor flies by and you can FEEL it thundering past you...makes up for the fairly lame visual imo.

    Oh yeah...spoilers by the way.

Put me in the "just okay" category. Last year, when I came to TDR with some friends (two of which had never been before), the two of us that had were going on and on about Pooh. After riding it, one of the newbies said that she thought it was good, but couldn't quite understand why we had been so excited about it. After doing StormRider the next day, she exited the ride totally impressed, and turned to us and said "Come on guys, that was WAY better than Pooh!" An interesting perspective, as I wouldn't have directly compared the two, but if you were to rank all rides on a single scale, Pooh would definately be higher than StormRider for me. I guess that's why they have a variety of rides in the parks, isn't it?

Journey was cool, but I agree it was a bit too brief after a great build up in the queue and load area. 20,000 Leagues was my fave. I wasn't expecting too much, as not too many people here seemed wowed by it, but I thought it rocked and was a perfect way of updating the traditional sub ride without complaints of "plastic fish on wires."

Indy was cool and I appreciated that they made it distinct enough from the DL version (both queue and ride).

First the story line grabs one's interest from the word go and won't let up until you walk out the exit. JTTCE has a beautiful setting(1870's mystery island), awsome, awsome introduction(queue)!!, conflict(man and his technology vs the earth's unpredictability), climax (lava monster encounter)and resolution ( escaping out of a pressure hole to safety). There are well enough AA's to help with the story. Cali. Adv.'s Grizzly River Run is a signiture ride and I have never seen any AA's. AS for the lava monster -- it is scary and it rocks! Let's not loose sight that this is Disney. There are limitations on how scary rides and AA's should be. My wife was genuinely scared of that lava creature.

Only after riding it a couple of times and really looking at things did I realize that the loading platform must be above.

That's the type of thing that I like when I think a ride is really well done: you don't know what to expect, and you're "fooled" by things when the ride is new.

That ride alone was worth the $675 air ticket as well as the 12 hr. flt. Just looking at the detailed volcano before entering the ride was worth the trip.

And yes Stormrider is a poor excuse for a state of the art simulator--a lot of confusion, chaos and too many passengers per ride vehicle. I give it a D+ .

I guess it's just me and Mr. X that loves it :). I even remember us riding it together once or twice. Even my girlfriend and good friend who came to visit me in Japan weren't very impressed. I personnally like it a lot, not LOVE it, but like it. It's always on the "must do" list when I hit TDS.

But, since the place only has about 8 rides or so, it's not that difficult to fall on the "must do" list ;D.

Hum, doesn't the elevator go up to the queue area? Either that or I'm losing my mind again (entirely possible).

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Journey immensely, but I enjoy it for what it is, which is just a fun short ride. I don't think they incorporated enough of the book into the ride and I'm still not convinced there are enough of the subterranean creatures to make the ride convincing. I also find the queue area and ride vehicles have far more detailing than the attraction itself.

It is funny how polarised people are over TDS. For me, Sinbad is the real pleasure, a wonderful AA attraction that has a wicked sense of humor and a delightful artistic style to its execution. Sadly, wasted in its location.
