I think the Finians ( I looked them up on the web) would be GREAT over in frontierland or critter country! I would also love to see some "pickin' and a grinnin'" over there! And once I finsihed that, maybe catch a couple of rides and GO SHOPPING!! (DISNEY CORP! ARE YOU LISTENING??!!!) There is joy to be had from tradition....and profit to be made as well. I hope they embrace this concept.

The Guitarist, Mandolin Player, Bassist and Drummer are those. The woodwind player, as it were, I'm not sure of as he's the youngest member of the band, and I'm not sure of his heritage.

Pacific Wharf has the luxury of booking a wide variety of bands. They've had latin music, to rock n roll cover bands play there.

Or what bout the calypso band in Adventure land? And who can forget Rod Miller in the Coke Corner. Grab a big ice cream cone and plant youself at a table...it's just so enjoyable. Sometimes you don't even need the rides, you can just go and relax, listen to good music and people watch. Those are honestly some of my favorite pastimes in the parks. Thanks for the article!!

I took Jen (my gf at the time) to DL for her birthday, New Year's, and the following three days. It was the day after New Year's and DL had this great "calm after the storm" feeling. Perfect weather, happy people, room to breathe... it was the picture perfect example of how great DL can be. This was going to be our relaxing day where we dress up in (comfortable) formal wear and watch shows all day, and we were going to start it off with lunch at the Blue Bayou (had to have the monte cristo). Well, after our lunch at the Blue Bayou we were feeling fat and happy and strolled around New Orleans Square (our favorite place). As we walked down the alley between Pirates and Blue Bayou we heard a saxophonist playing, and, both Jen and I being saxophonists, we stopped to listen. The acoustics were great in the alley and enhanced the music and the mood. After he was done with the song we talked with him about his saxophone for a bit and then he asked if we had a request. Jen asked if he knew "The Way You Look Tonight" and he said "Of course..." and started playing. Jen told me she wanted to dance, and, at the time, I was kinda shy dancing in public (i'm a good dancer, but i don't like too much attention). She pointed out that there was no one else in the alley so I took her in my arms, I closed my eyes, and we let the soft echo of the music take over. I think the saxophonist was enjoying the moment, because he played through the song twice. Perfect moment, perfectly magical.

When the music stopped we kissed then pulled away to see we were surrounded by people. I guess they thought we were pretty good, because they burst into applause. I was so dizzy with emotion that I didn't care that there was about fifteen to twenty people in our audience, and we both bowed, and thanked them and the saxophonist for giving us the moment. I think I was blushing for the rest of the day.

Though our relationship didn't work out, we are still good friends and see each other all the time. Sometimes we'll look through the DL pictures and the pictures of us dressed up on our way to the Blue Bayou and reminisce about how fun the trip was. How great New Year's was. How we went on POTC and Haunted Mansion twenty times. Of course, our defining "Disney" memory will always be the two of us, the saxophonist, and the music.

Oh to be a teenager again...

Great Reliving Fond Memories... as usual!
