We still do big private parties all the time. Fall and Winter are the main seasons, even with the 8pm closing.

They usually start the party by checking wristbands and coralling all the party guests into the Fantasmic! area while simultaneously sweeping out all the day guests. Then they have a Fantasmic! for the party guests around 8:30pm while the park clears and the party setup is underway in other areas of the park. After Fantasmic ends the nearby attractions like Pirates, Mansion, Splash, Pooh, Indy are the first to open to party guests as the last prep work is done to the park and the last few stragglers are being shooed out the gates. By 9:30pm the party goes parkwide, and it goes until Midnight or 1:00am.

Interesting. With all the penny pinching that the big corps. do these days I'm suprised that any still do something grand like rent DL for an evening. I guess that there are still a few good places to work.

We were there once (November 2003) when the park was closed early for a private party for some type of corporation. Mind you, the "private party" looked like it had nearly as many people going in as on a typical DL morning for that time of year! I guess you'd have to have that many people to make the costs worthwhile.
