So what did I find ?

1/Very mean personal comments appears to have gotten the previous thread closed now -
2/ A thread on technology for lines took exactly 2 posts to get to a shot completely unrelated "^ Because, that and DVC is EXACTLY what I go to WDW for!!!!!"- not to single out one poster who I actually think tries to be balanced - but I think it happens because it is almost 'expected' now - if that makes sense..so EE please do not take personally, not meant that way

3/on the positive side some positive posts from posters who had been raining sludge down for a few weeks- those are appreciated. They were fun to read by some very knowledgable Disney people. The bad included with the good but it allrelated to the same experience-- was good reading

What has happened in my humble opinion ( and I read over and over how opinions are allowed- so here goes) - the sheer volume of negativity is causing most threads to be reduced to just that..without the discourse I was used to @ LP... and now some personal type stuff that really has no business in WDW threads

Those saying people are trying to shut them down from posting anything negative aren't reading a thing from Danny or myself or some others in that it's not the negative posts about things that are causing us headaches it is that it is taking over theads-- those always existed and you're right, this is a discussion board and should be the place to discuss... no one ( or almost no one) is trying to stop all negative comments - but they are trying to have them at least bear relation to the thread. Yes one can stretch and include boos for mgmt, DVC, or almost anything else you don't like to remotely relate to any thread- but cripes, it's boring as crapola that way.

No one hated Poo Playground more than me- but I tried to limit those comments to Fantasyland discussions - or at least attraction discussion...I didn't inject ( I hope) into Dining discussions, or hotels or anything far removed.

If the threads on DVC or how Disney is spending their budgets -- wail away on DVC -- but geez in every thread it has to be brought up as something negative to some degree ? That's discourse ?

If the threads on mgmt decisions- have at it...but no place in a Dole Whip thread

If the thread is one rides and the AA's were f'd up on your last ride - yes complain...but concentrate on that thread- to avoid every thread turning into the one that was just closed. W/E is very much like that but people know what they are in for there - and if they choose to stay they like to participate in that. I saw that a poster I really used to like here had a total melt down there recently ( saw it in community as I do not wade into W/E any longer) - and that's really a shame. Saw a very good post there from Dlanddug - one of the better poster there IMHO - that said when they arrived the conservatives ruled the roost and liberals and moderates 'felt' ganged up on- today it is totally reversed. I highlighted the word felt because whether it's real or not can be argued- but whether people feel that way is an opinion- and they do. Just as some here feel the negativity overwhelms the positive far more often than not. So whether you agree that's true or not is opinion, but understand there are many who feel that way and they are leaving because of it. What's left when that happens is far less than what I think most people come here for.

anyway- again, it's just my opinion and only counts for 1 person-- others can feel as they like. I'm going back to happy town ( White Russians and food galore) for a few more days.

and again, not trying to be the moderator, just trying to inject why some of us feel the way we do.

Hoping for a great 2011 for everyone here.. take care until then

left me disqusted and shocked! I really hope that the nice, decent lper's stay around.

It's gonna be taken personally if you call me out for it.

What is it about some aspects that some people take so seriously that they can't bare to see others poke fun at it, or EVEN JOKE over?

    Seriously.

And I was, of course, being sarcastic, in my post... As it DID bring that up, I thought it pertinent to mention that the DVC mention WAS in there, when in fact, the article is about attractions. ]

Who would have thought THAT should have been the focus of the article.

And I do try to be balanced between negative and positive posts, but my opinions are my own. I don't see what's "expected" there.

...only thing I expect lately of these boards is to e berated into defending a "negative" viewpoint, when in actuality, it's just a opinion, same as all yours.

If I sound a little perturbed tonight, it's because I'm feeling so. Where I once came on these boards to find ALL opinions welcomed and discussed, it's quickly gone to the point where we are no longer defending points, which is perfectly fine, but to defending WHY we have those points.

Honestly, that's ridiculous. People have opinions. This is the place to express them. It's not worth getting overly angry, emotional, and dramatic for.

    :)

    There, I feel better.

    LOL

Funnily enough, I agree with all this... Heh.

I don't have much here to add other than Happy 2011 to you and your family.

BUT ... I will anyway ... I don't see things any worse/different here than at any point in my past decade of lurking and/or posting. I think some regulars who I have a great deal of respect for may have gotten their feathers ruffled a bit (not saying you ... but you do like wearing those boas around the 'hood with your Bears helmet and Ariel two-piece and prancing up the Miracle Mile) ... and some newbie (or new to me) started a thread basically demanding only happy pixie dust talk (BTW, that thread ended in one of two ways I predicted in an email to a fellow LPer last night, so you may want to know my bowl predictions).

Other than that, it's been much of the same ... only I'm in a much better mood because I have visited TDR and that's like going to the proverbial mountaintop.

BTW, if it makes you feel any better I did think of you twice in the past few weeks ... once when I saw Marriott shilling Asian timeshares in the Hong Kong MTR stations and another when I was practically assaulted by an aggressive timeshare salesman at the Luxor in Las Vegas last week. Hey, I'm just being honest!

Anyway, once again a very happy, healthy and more prosperous 2011 to you and the family! :)

Anyway more than the constant negativity is the attitude that goes with some of it. I dislike being called ignorant because I don't care to try out the other Disney parks. Maybe I'm just happy with WDW because that's my style, I've been
married to the same guy for 46 years. Maybe there's a connection.

Same for Nelly Negative, she has a right to complain about getting her heals smashed by strollers and ECVs at DVC World.
Just please attempt to stay on topic with both praise and contempt and remember, if you've typed the same sentence in three or more topics, chances are we've read it and gotten the point and don't really need to read it again, tres boring.
Just my 2 cents (which isn't even worth that in this economy).

BTW, I agree 100% bobbelee, no need to call people "rubes" or otherwise insult their intelligence just because they enjoy their Disney trips and prefer not to go someplace else on vacation.

    Agreed.

No need to single people out, either, if we are mentioning things....

Thats not really fair to say. People who havent been on lp for ten years are just as entitled to their opinions just as you are.

I certainly hope you've never felt that way about anything I've said. I have used the term 'rubes' before (and will again) to describe the 'WDW can do no wrong' fanboi/tourist crowd that at the same time as defending WDW and TDO leadership refuses to accept that maybe things are done better at other Disney resorts. If someone opts not to visit beyond O-Town that is their choice, but they need to understand there is a limit to their ability to compare and contrast in a meaningful context.

<<Hey I've had the same husband for 46 years, so what do you expect.>>

Maybe it's time to trade up? ;-)

    Why not?

If you are a pintrading, plush buying, Wishes crying fanboi, then you should at least be able to take a little online spanking for your sins! ;-)

And where did I say people aren't entitled to their opinions? The OP of that thread wanted the majority of people here (by far, BTW) to not speak/post anything negative about WDW ... that's not really an opinion, it's a desire or request or demand and it was totally out of line. Not to me, because I've barely had any discussion with her at all, but to the LP Community as a whole.
