No kids, we ARE the kids!

Day 3 - Palo’s brunch food glorious foood.

9:00 am we are up and ready to play! The day is clear and the sun is shining. A glorious day! I’m ready to head up to Deck 9 to topsiders for some breakfast, Mickey waffles here I come! DH burst my bubble by reminding me that we have a 10:30 brunch ressie at Palo’s the mickey waffles will have to wait until tomorrow. We decide to walk around Deck 4 for exercise. Before the cruise we decided we would walk every day around the ship for exercise, this lasted one day. Who were we kidding, right? We make our way to deck 9 to Palo’s. We absolutely love dining at Palo’s the food is magnificent, very fresh and oh so palate pleasing. They offer us a drink, oh goody! Seat us at our table and our server Anne Marie, because Florencia our beloved server from our last cruise was on vacation, took us around to all the stations to explain what everything was and how ordering worked. The choices were stunning we were in pig heaven! They had crab legs, not just crab legs, but KING crab legs, my fav!, bacon wrapped scallops - the big ones, salmon mouse, cheese selection, desserts, main courses, you’ll just have to look at the pictures the visual affect is much better than I could ever describe. We feasted like royalty for what seemed like hours all of it was fabulous!

The only thing about scheduling things before the navigators come out is we missed the art of entertaining – the appetizer class and Disney’s Behind the Scenes with Vice President of Synergy & Special Projects, Jonathan Garson. Darn, Darn, Darn I really wanted to go to that one!
*burp* Darn my “live to eat†dining attitude!

Since we have 2 sea days in a row when cruising the Eastern Carib. We like to just relax the first day and do a whole lot of nothing.
We headed back to the room, changed and headed out to the secret deck to catch a little sun. We aren’t sun worshippers but to be in the sunshine just makes one happy, or maybe it was the drinks at brunch. DH slept I read and relaxed we did this for about an hour then decided to explore the ship a little more and headed downstairs to check the kids clubs for my nephews who would be sailing with us in 2008. After exploring we went down to guest services to hand in our pillow cases for the characters to sign. Here’s how this works you put the item you want signed, t-shirt, pillow case, hat picture mat, etc… into a ziplock bag with sharpies or fabric pens. Fill out a form with your name, stateroom #, which characters autographs you want,
ME: “Hmmm I want Cinderella, Wendy, Capt. Hook, Stitch, Lilo, Smee, …â€
DH: “Just circle ALL already!†He really does love me.
And drop it off at guest services at the beginning of your cruise and it will be delivered back to you on Friday the day before the cruise is over.
If you don’t have pens? No problem they have some there but only black. It might be nice to do different colors, but we just wanted black and white for our Disney room. I had wanted to get a picture mat signed but couldn’t find one in Walmart. Again, next time. We got 4 pillowcases signed and they came out really nice. We also had gotten quite a few Disney dollars over the years as gifts from family and friends so we added them to our shipboard credit. DH saw that there was wine tasting and beer tasting on the schedule for $12 each and signed us up for that. Oh glorious! Next we went to shutters this is where you pick up all the pictures the ship’s photographer takes. We bought a package combo for 8 - 6x8 plus 5-8x10 = $149.95 If you don’t use the whole pkg. they will credit the money owed back to you. Sweeet! If you buy them individually it will cost you 6X8's are $9.95 ea. 8X10's are $19.95 ea. It really helps to get all of this out of the way at the beginning of your trip because at the end everyone is trying to settle up their accts. And it’s pretty chaotic and busy.

After getting all of that out of the way it was time to get dressed for the Golden Mickey’s show and dinner afterwards. We were getting a little hungry and decided to stop on deck 9 where they have the fast food dining to get a snack. They have:

Goofy’s Galley which has panini’s, salads, fruit and the all u can eat soft ice cream, bring some rootbeer and make rootbeer floats or coke floats they have that at the drink station. Yum!

Pluto’s dog house – hamburgers, tacos, nachos, hot dogs, bratswurst.
    Chicken strips.

    Pinocchio’s pizzeria

Alert! Alert! Alert! Do not eat at these places after having a wonderful meal at Palo’s everything tasted just awful disgusting to me! My palate had turned to snobbery and could not handle the invasion of inferior foods. Though the next day I was fine, phew!

We look at the navigator, Looky it’s formal night! We dress in our fancy finery then headed down to the Walt Disney Theatre on deck 4 to watch the Golden Mickey’s. This is a new show to us. It began after our last cruise 3 yrs. ago. It’s a tribute to the Disney studio’s classic films and mimicks an award show red carpet and all! I see them interviewing people on the big screen displayed above.
ME: “I want to be interviewed.â€
DH: “I think they are only interviewing children.â€
At that moment a little girl dressed up like Belle gets called over to the Mike.
ME: “hummmph if I wore a costume I’d probably get interviewed.â€
DH: under his breath “Thank God.â€
    ME: “What?â€
    DH: “Love ya!â€
    ME: “Thought so.â€
It was really cute to see the kids interviewed though.
The show was marvelous! I wish I would have gone to the matinee one at 2:30 too.

After the show we were too early for dinner so we take a seat at the promenade lounge to wait for our seating. Drink of the day was a Bahama Mama. Bring it!
While we waited a couple came on stage and started to sing some songs while little kids and their parents got up to dance. I started laughing because they reminded me of that SNL duo the Culps with Will Ferrell and Ana Gasteyer. DH didn’t know what I was laughing at and I couldn’t stop long enough to tell him. He was getting embarrassed as people were looking our way with the “oh it’s that couple lookâ€. When I finally settled down to tell him he started to laugh too, more stares, what’s a girl to do? Why order another round of the drink of the day of course!

Finally it was time for us to go into the restaurant, tonight we would be dining in Animators palette, the restaurant that starts out black and white and then changes to color as the night progresses. A very fun restaurant It is nice to see everyone dressed up, especially the kids, just adorable.
Once again the food was wonderful. FYI if you would like to try different appetizers, entrees or a dessert just ask! You aren’t restricted to have only one of anything you can have one of everything! On the table next to us was a man was a big eater, he was very fit and liked to eat. He would order sometimes 2 – 3 entrees and take one back to his room. He really enjoyed the food.

After dinner DH and I took a stroll around deck 10. There is nothing like strolling the dark silent deck hand in hand in the moonlight, it is so beautiful to be out in the middle of the ocean with the tropical breeze blowing your hair around and Honey I shrunk the kids playing on the dumbotron. Rick Moranis can really put a damper on romance. How about an ice cream float before we turn in?

Next Day 4 – Crikey! A moment of silence please.

Thank you for posting the photos on the food and drinks. To me, they are what matter the most..;)

We are cruising on the Princess Diamond in two weeks (YEA) and one cruise website I was lurking on, spoke badly about the Disney Cruise food. I think the food looks really really good.
