I would also recommend staying in a hotel/ resort which is not spread out, and since your planning on visiting in August, perhaps with interior doors. You may want to also consider the hotels in Downtown Disney since they are on property, minutes from the parks, reasonably priced and most have interior doors.

We usually stay at POR and WDW is good about giving me a room near bus stop and pking lot. I am mobile most of the time but by the end of the day when I have been on my feet a long time my walking becomes more difficult and staying on property makes it so everybody doesn't have to leave if I do. I was hoping there might be a deal out there that I was missing?
