DCA to Be Closed on June 14th.
Disney has announced via the Disney Parks Blog that Disney California Adventure's Cars Land will be officially opening on June 15th. To accomodate a media preview and make final preparations for the opening, DCA will be closed for one day on June 14th.

On the otherhand, maybe people will wait the extra day and go on the day of DCA's grand opening. Just wondering because I have a relative who has been planning to go to DL on the 14th and somewhere else the 15th, and maybe she and her family should switch their plans.

In addition to all of the people who are coming for the grand opening, there will also be additional crowds because it's a Friday. Thursday will likely just have the vacationers (though both parks' worth in one park), but Friday will have all of them, plus a huge swarm of people coming for the grand opening, plus the weekly surge that comes in after work on Friday. Yes, DL will likely be crowded on Thursday, but I really can't see it being worse than Friday.

Experiencing the ebb & flow of the "tidal" guest flow between the two gates is a crazy phenom already. By Summer, yikes!

More to the point, I wonder if they'll ever be able to get to what they clearly intended to be the case 11 years ago: have DCA be considered a full-day experience worthy of the same admission price as DL, without having to do 2fers, add-on-DCA-for-$20-more, Adults-for-kids-price, and all that stuff that they've ended up doing over the years for DCA. Getting it to the point where DCA has similar operating hours as DL will be a big help.
