David was the elder son of The Nelson family, a real life family that also starred in a popular sitcom of the 50's and 60's. In the early days of the Disney Channel viewers were introduced (or re-introduced) to The Nelsons -- Ozzie, Harriet, David and Ricky. In 1987, two years after Rick's tragic death in an airplane crash, the cable network aired a special produced by David Nelson titled "Rick Nelson: A Brother Remembers." The Nelson family legacy continues to be celebrated within Disney as Rick's twin sons are scheduled to perform during the Epcot Flower Power Concert Series.</p>
