Add in some completely forgetable music and bland characters by modern standards, and it's a fairly forgetable film. Everything that I have seen so far indicates that the new one will be a success. I just saw the Tron Night preview, and it was really good. The visuals are outstanding, the story seems to be presented in a fresh way (even if it is a little cliche), and the music is a driving force behind it. It may look dated in another 30 years, but for now, it's fresh and lively. There's a reason that Tron hasn't been released for home video since it's 20th anniversary. I have it on DVD and haven't seen it in years; I'm debating whether or not I should watch it again before the new one. I'm leaning toward 'no'.
