Not to mention that I have YET to see any movie based on a book to be 100% faithful to it. As for the effects, other then Zaphod's arm (which should have been better), I would have been extremely dissapointed it the effects were of Star Wars quality. That's not the point of this film. It's supposed to be almost comic book quality. Though I did enjoy the quality of the effects on the manufacturing floor of Magaretha.

But what could they do? They had only two hours. I 'spect all the sci-fi nuts who were itching to see it did so this weekend, so it'll die a dog's death at the box office next week. Tomorrowland can breathe a sigh of relief. A question for all of you who liked it. What was your first intro to the HHGG universe? Radio, records, books, or TV? Mine was radio, and I still maintain that the radio series is the purest and best way to experience HHGG. If you thought the Magrathea construction area was impressive in the movie, you should've seen the one in the radio show!

I was kind of worried about that all along. As I mentioned elsewhere, a good friend of mine was really, REALLY into this, and gave me a VHS tape of a British version of it.
