(OK, do I have to include a smiley or can we all assume everyone reading here can appreciate the sarcasm without one?) I do think any DisneyQuest fans out there (are there any?) ought to be happy because the only thing keeping that joint open is Disney doesn't want the prospect of an empty, dead and decaying PI and an empty huge Virgin store and another huge empty box in DQ. I always thought the Westside was better when it was a forest. Now, one must wonder what Disney really thinks will solve its massive DD problems.

Then they close/lose half of their shopping dining district. They have zero, zip, nada attractions coming. And they raise the prices through the roof. WTF is going on down there? Could the WDW leadership be making worse decissions? How many DVC Villas could you make out of the Magastore? Oh, did I mention that CityWalk has 3 new restaurants coming online very soon? Oh, and a new MASSIVE rollercoaster for this summer. And The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is well under way. Sea World has Manta for this summmer, and there is a 2 phase expansion of Aquatica in the works with 4 new slides coming online by summer and a whole new section for 2010.

Landry's is having problems and while I don't see the chain going anywhere I have heard that T-Rex isn't meeting projections, so if they have to prune locations and concepts I wouldn't be shocked to see it close since there's only two of them in existence. That would be another huge magical vacancy. Meanwhile in the parks you don't have much new or exciting. I liked AIE, but it filled the space of another attraction (even if the space had been empty for 7-8 years) ... Kim Possible is a nice small scale addition to EPCOT ... and MK has ... uhm ... ah ... balloons and napkins! The 40th anniversary is coming and I am steadfastly convinced Disney will ignore it (much like they did the 30th and 35th anniversaries and EPCOT's 25th) ... one of the kids behind the EPCOT 25th fanfest has been proclaming loudly on another magical site that Disney will be doing something for the 40th, and he is connected to some Disney folks, but one wonders if it will actually be a real 'event' or a one-day EPCOT type deal to appease the fans ... WDW is still stale ... a few small new experiences don't make up for years of taking money out of the resort, but not putting it back. And now that DVC cash bovine looks to be suffering from the onset of mad cow, so how are they going to make the bottom line look better? More cuts? More specials? (that is why they are still getting decent load levels in their resorts) More marketing? Likely all three.

Another good reason to go to DTD - Earl of Sandwich. The Beef n' Bleu is yummy.
