I'll never understand Rob Minkoff's obsession with live action - he is obsessed by it. Disney wanted to bring him back after Stuart Little was a success. Haunted Mansion was seen to be perfect for him. Animation legend Don Hahn was producer and Andrew Gunn helped to develop it - Andrew is loved at Disney despite a spotty track record. He was responsible for The Country Bears, Race to Witch Mountain and College Road Trip - but he also did Bedtimes Stories, Freaky Friday (hugely underrated in the fan community IMHO) and a personal favourite of mine - Sky High. It seems that Guillermo wants to take the movie in an entirely different direction. If it is 1% as good as Pan's Labyrinth then I'll be delighted. That movie is perfect.

Yet I find it sad that it would take a major box office hit to get them to finally put the Hatbox Ghost back after all these years of fans begging for him. Sigh. In the name of synergy.
