Today, Walt Disney World begins its Monstrous Summer media event. A part of that is a peek behind the walls of construction at the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Unfortunately, photography wasn't allowed, but there were three Imagineers on hand to give presentations on both the Mine Train (opening in 2014) and Princess Fairy Tale Hall (opening in 2013). Below is most of the text of those presentations as well as items learned during the Question and Answer sessions.

ORGOCH: Yeah, go back ta sleep, ducklin's! Ain't gonna' be no ridin' no dwarf coaster any time soon...

So true. It seems it takes Disney so much longer to build new rides than other themeparks.

Look no further than the facades of the two rides (painted flat walls with some ducts and conduits vs completely undulating surfaces to mimic a mountain) to get an idea of how completely different these two projects are.

Yes, Universal did go to great lengths to open Transformers in less than a year from its groundbreaking, but the relatively simple construction helped them along immensely.

Uhhhhhh no. Transformers didn't start construction until last July. Which was over a year and a half into the Mine Train's build.
