New York Times reporter takes a rare trip behind-the-scenes at Walt Disney World's "command center" to discover more about Disney's developing system to increase the number of attractions, restaurants and stores guests can visit during a day at their theme parks.

Largely laughable PR by Brooks Barnes, a very 'unique' spirit in his own right, that makes the technology trumping storytelling mantra of The Weatherman very front and center, while selling Disney - and favorite VP whipping boi Phil Holmes - as being so very concerned with making sure guests (who all apparently have the attention span of knats) happy all the time.

It would be nice if folks asked questions about why things are the way they are ... like they did in the 60s-80s ... but now people just accept anything and everything.

I hope Brooks is getting a Dream cruise. It would be a shame if only fanboi bloggers and bored housewives with sites that get 178 hits on good days got those.

Disney wants whores who will shill its products for a chance to talk to an Imagineer or to get a 'free' LE pin ... that's what it comes down to.

Real reporters may be for sale to in this era in which we live, but their prices are a helluva lot higher than someone who just wants to say they 'interviewed' an Imagineer who worked on the AquaDuck etc.

Disney will give the product away to almost any blogger out there (one reason why I still have respect for Lutz -- the man takes nothing), but will make what's left of the real journalist corps in the USA jump through hoops ... because it really doesn't want them.

"America can’t move forward until we once again believe...that everyone can enter Frontierland if they try hard enough, and that no one will be denied a dream because a private party has rented out Tomorrowland."

Haha! Actually Brooks reached out for a quote but his editor took the piece in a different direction. I did ask if Brooks was going on the Dream but he said he was off to Sundance instead.

Ummm... can they please bring this system to California!

Avoid the parks at the peak times and you don't have to worry about any of this.

It's nothing that a few mai-tais at the Polynesian Resort couldn't fix.
