The rumored reason is to accomodate construction (freeing up backstage roads the parade and show use).</p>

I hope that this means that there will be a new parade to replace it at some point in the not-so-distant future (most repaving jobs could be done in a week or two), but I'm not holding my breath. The other interesting aspect is that the construction could be for something new. Looking at Google Earth, it looks like the road they use really only goes behind the Hollywood & Dine/50's Prime Time Cafe, Indiana Jones stunt show, and Backlot Express, so there's not a lot that could be done there. Unless, of course, this is also for the long-rumored (though not as much in recent years) closure and replacement of the Indiana Jones show... And as pointed out by the comments on the original article, Disney Channel Rocks doesn't need the parade route to perform; they can use a stage set-up for the roving show, and there are plenty of those scattered around the park.

That show only lasted one season in Anaheim, in a park in the midst of construction, but even in that unflattering environment it just wasn't up to snuff in Anaheim and so it was cut and replaced by several other things (Phineas & Ferb - later cloned for WDW, Minnie's Fly Girls, etc. ). That it lasted until 2013 in WDW proves how inept WDW management is, and how little they think of their paying customers. It took George Kalogridis to get out there and shriek "You guys are still running this stuff?!? Cut it!". Sure it won't be replaced by anything anytime soon, if ever. And now DHS will run through at least the rest of calendar year 2013 without a parade and with one less street show. But the quality, and that's a very generous use of that word, of these shows was so low the park will be better off without them and with no immediate replacement. It just boggles the mind to think what they get away with out in WDW, and what management willingly offers for paying customers. Glad George K. had the guts to kill some of the most embarrassing things.

You were fabulous, kids, just FABULOUS! ;-)

I'm not horribly sad that it's being cut, but I am disappointed that they're getting rid of it without a replacement.
