But then, being stuck on property we kept having significant bus issues (45 minute waits) to where we started using cabs by the end of the trip. It was frankly piss poor.

That was a mess and didn't work for us. So we took a yellow bus to the airport.

I voowed IF we ever go to WDW again, we would rent a car and not use their substandard transport (we had a momorail breakdown that trip too and a poor boat to Wilderness Lodge issue). In 2000, the transport was much better. But it is sad when Alton Towers and Europa Park run better monorail services than the place that gave them the idea to build them in the first place.

I admit I always have a car there but I use the bus system at times each trip also- and have no complaints

Although each Disney hotel is connected by a bus, we never used them, except the weather was bad.

We had met a family from Australia and struck up a conversation with them so it made the time pass pretty quickly.

It's a bit unfair to compare WDW's monorail with Alton Towers as their monorail is very short and nowhere near the same scale. It's like comparing a paper boat to a cruiseliner and then complaining the paper boat doesn't have a better restaurant!!!
