Rumor is Walt Disney World will be increasing ticket prices on August 3rd. Both MouseSavers.com and DISBoards.com have both had rumors of this with the Orlando Sentinel Theme Park blog also reporting the rumor.

FWIW, Universal has a 7/day, 2/Park with waterpark special for $99. Disney's is $314 for my family of 3 (Me and my 2 DDs) that's $297 vs $942. So, We went to Universal last summer with a similar $99 deal, it gave us a cushion to buy souvenirs, better food, and even could go to Cirque (the only time we went to Disney). Disney is simply out of my league. I am only a Photojournalist for CBS, not the CEO.

I know I corrected it in the first sentence, but I thought the comparison needed repeating.

These high costs for everything else will bring down attendance to amusement parks for sure. Especially people who have to travel very far to go to these Parks. I love Disney as much as most people here, more than most of the people I know in person, but the costs are definitely keeping us away for now. We really have to save for such an expensive trip, and right now there is no money left over to save after everything else is paid.

We are hoping to go Oct. 2009 for my DD's high school graduation, but if we cannot get some savings going it might not happen. We have wanted to go in a cooler, less crowded month for a long time, but with a child in school it has not been possible.
Maybe, by then, it will not be an issue anyway. Lottery win maybe?LOL

I also don't want to see people losing their jobs due to cuts. We have enough of that around my hometown.
    (& everywhere else)

I don't know what the solution is. It is hurting people either way. Quality or availability.

maybe people go less often but pay more - if we go theother way I am very concerned

I am getting tired of the fact that their answer for everything is to raise prices while diminishing the experience.

Then you should vote with your wallet. I hate the price increases too, but it hasn't stopped me from coming back. At least not yet.

In 06 I made it happen for my kids. After being there and seeing the product and the focus of their efforts I don't really care I can't afford it. The money grubbin' is just icky. I feel like I needed a shower after I went to Disney. I can't put my finger on it, but its Bibbity, Bobbity, Boutiques, Magical Marketing Dreams, Parade of Snowglobes Available at the Emporium. Its all just too much money grubbin'. I really honestly made me feel uncomfortable. Even if I get the job at Central Florida News 13 with the 12K/year raise. I will live in Central FL and have the means to buy the Premium Annual pass (my parents actually said that if I get the job, they would buy an Annual Pass as a gift). I am not at all interested. I told them to buy me a new recliner instead. I'll buy myself a UniPremiumPass.

Yes they tend to discount more for the longer stays/locals but a 1 day 1 park ticket to any of the parks is basically the same... Same with parking.. It costs the same to park at all the parks, when one goes up the others follow within the week...
