StudioCentral.com has pictures of a queueless waiting system that has started testing at Rock 'n' Roller Coaster at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Guests receive a group number and while waiting for their group to load they can participate in activities in the courtyard.

I'm not really sure how this is any different or better, other than you are essentially caged into a waiting area instead of roaming the park freely. That, and they can start enforcing the end time of your return window (which they could easily just start doing anyway).

I guess I really don't understand the added benefits of this system, but it appears to be very CM intensive (which means expensive), for a marginal change in operations. I also don't know how many attractions have space for a free range waiting area like this, since it appears to be quite large.

Maybe because guests are figuring out you can return anytime after the time posted on your FP, it's messing up the FP lines and making them longer.

At least with FP you know when you can come back and plan other activities accordingly - the real issue with FP is having stuff close by that you can do while waiting for the FP time to come up. As long as there are other non-FP attractions or shows nearby then the wait doesn't seem like much - but if you have to trek out of the area to find things to do then sometimes you'd just rather stand in line, board the ride and move onward.

I find this very true Sometimes i end up going on a ride that i dont even really want to go on because i am waiting to return. On the other hand with waiting in lines these days takes forever because everyone seems to be fast passing. I like having a fast pass if the ride is 40mins plus wait sometimes i will bite the bullet and wait. I dont think i would like waiting in a room the idea isnt a good idea and people will probably hate it.
