I just got a call, Caller ID said 1015, a man with an Indian/Middle Eastern accent telling me he's calling from the Social Security Administration, and I qualify to receive $500 a month for the next 6 months, tax free, and I don't have to pay it back. Do I want it? Yes. OK, all I have to do is give him my checking account information. If you're SS, why can't you send me a check? Sorry, we can't send checks.

So I ask to speak to a supervisor. A woman gets on the phone. I ask her where they are calling from. She says San Francisco. I then attempt to ask her the street address of their office. She hands the phone back to the guy.

Where are you calling from? Washington D.C. What's your office address? 16 west german road #2062, 85286 (that's Chandler, AZ, according to Google). As he's telling me, I type in the address and I get something in Ohio, something in the UK.

I tell him, something's not adding up. This is a scam. You tell me Washington DC, 85286 is NOT a DC zip code (I have friends near DC in VA, it's not even close), and your "supervisor" says San Francisco. This is a scam, and I'm not interested.

He says "This is a scam. You are a clever lady."

    Click. I hang up.

My number is on a do not call list, but I think Vonage is screwing with me and selling my number. Especially since he had my STREET address and I am unlisted.

I've always thought so too! I hate scam artists!! The sad part is that they always seem to find a mark somewhere.

Good Night ladies...I'm really going this time.

No, I didn't call the cops, since there wasn't an "official" number on the CID.

I did go to www.whocalled.us and entered all the numbers I didn't recognize...most of them are telemarketing or other scams. I'm on a do not call list, but scammers don't know that. They just call randomly.
