Many log flumes, river rapid rides, and other water ride attractions have restraints. If I recall, Dudley Do-Right just had them installed in the past year or so. Perilous Plunge at Knott's also utilizes them, mainly for a tragic accident shortly after it opened when someone fell to their death. I'm sure the death by the person who left their boat on Splash Mountain at WDW might be precipitating this to possibly happen. People can be stupid, and very stupid people can do extremely dangerous things.

It got picked up and reported as being true and Disney actually did a short press release denying that rumor. Let's just see what Disney actually does.

That said, Splash in TDL has a lap bar and it didn't change my enjoyment whatsoever. Of course, maybe I wasn't paying attention to it because the attraction was so spectacular and I walked off with barely a drop of water on me.
