Originally Posted By Doobie The place is packed in the evenings. It services locals and cast as well, but I see lots of tourists, too. You could say the same about mini golf but there are a ba-zillion mini golf places in the WDW neighborhood as well. Just fun things to do on vacation.

Did it get cancelled?<< Yes, the Hyperion Wharf makeover got quietly cancelled when they realized that the economy wasn't going to improve in the immediate future, and they would have trouble finding tennants for all of the new stores and restaurants. I suspect they will eventually do something there (things appear to be getting a little better), but I doubt it will be as all encompassing as the previous plan. Probably just a new shop or restaurant when they have someone who is willing to build.

When I went to WDW for my high school senior class trip a...long time ago...all of my classmates wanted to take a day our of our park schedule to just go bowling. I just didn't get it, since we could have gone bowling at home. But, to each his own, I guess. So, I said "no thanks", and that day I went to the parks by myself while they all went bowling. So, yeah, even tourists would be interested.

Some people arrive mid-day or in the evening, so it's something fun to do when it doesn't make sense to use a park ticket. When I was a kid, sometimes when we'd drive down to Disneyland, the day we drove down there we might go to the Movieland Wax Museum or play miniature golf or something. We didn't build a vacation around that -- but it was a nice filler activity.

If built, it would mostly host tournaments, but they promised a few lanes would always be open to guests. ESPN WWOS needs more games that amateurs can partake in. I hope they build this.

The DTD location definitely makes more sense from a tourism standpoint (especially since 100 lanes is way too big for just competition use), but I can understand why they'd be interested in having a facility dedicated to the competitive side too.
