Tom Staggs was at the All Things Digital conference today to show off MagicBands and discuss their future use in the parks and even, perhaps, outside the parks.

Well, if it works the way that Staggs says it will, you'll be able to simply transition from your hotel room, through park turnstiles to reservations at shows, attractions, character meet-and-greets, and restaurants with a single electronic "ticket". That's a pretty significant game change from the traditional way that we're currently experiencing Disney resorts. Maybe you don't see this as an improvement, but, assuming it works as designed, you can't deny the improved convenience. But then again, I'm the sort who gets a kick out of slick technology like this.

Yea. I guess I just don't see the 1 minute combined (at most) this will save me from pulling my ticket out of my wallet as all that much of a revolutionary change to my park day.

True, but you did say "family", so I assumed you were talking about a group of people with possibly children involved.

Personally, I agree with Hokie. Being a visitor who is only responsible for my own ticket/FP/credit card/etc, it really doesn't bother me any to pull a card out of my wallet. In most cases, there's a bit of a queue, so I have a chance to do it before I even get to the front, meaning that it doesn't even slow me down. I guess it will be nice to not need to keep track of all the paper FP tickets, but I'm sure it will become much more difficult to remember all of your reservations, without a physical itinerary in my wallet.

A wristband will have a negligable effect on my vacation; having to spend months prior to it keeping on top of all of the details will have a much more serious impact.

If so everyone will look like hospital patients lol.

If the thing doesn't remind you then what's the point. It has to have little alerts or something.

I watched the video and I can see why people could get excited about it. The technology is really amazing. Though again, I have to say that Disney is getting more from this system then just a better guest experience.

That app is awful and even worse without a decent wi-fi connection.
