Do you agree?</p>

Your waiter is a Canadian college kid with superior hockey knowledge! That's funny because it's so true! The service at Le Cellier is unacceptably unpolished and poorly trained; it might pass for an Outback Steakhouse in a mall parking lot, but it's simply unacceptable for a "fancy" restaurant at an allegedly "world-class resort" like WDW pretends to be. And Rope Drop madness? That's just stupid, even if you weren't on vacation.

On my recent trips to DL, the line has been 30-45 minutes long, which just doesn't make any sense to me. I agree about Le Cellier. It's a decent restaurant, but hardly worth the hassle of making reservations 180 days in advance. While I never experienced the old Bistro de Paris, I think that the new Messieur Paul is also overrated; it just felt too casual to truly be a signature experience. I'm naturally a morning person, so I have no issues making it to rope drops. Yah, I'm a little annoyed with myself when I 'sleep in' until 7:30 on vacation (since that's about as late as I ever seem to be able to sleep), but it's nice to have a decent option if I'm awake anyway. For me, the most overrated thing in WDW is Wishes at MK. Even the first time I saw it in 2003, I remember being underwhelmed-at-best. It just isn't that great, yet people talk about how fantastic it is. Yes, there are fireworks behind a castle, but once the novelty of that wears off, it's kind of a crummy show.

It isn't for everyone, which is a good thing. Otherwise those of you who sleep in would never get a FP. The most overrated thing at WDW at the moment is live entertainment. Specifically things like the parades and stage shows. The current MK is embarrassing and the fact that it has been running as long as it has been is a shame. I love the Main Street Electrical Parade as much as anyone, but really!!! Some of the smaller entertainment things are great. Mariachi in Mexico for instance or Off Kilter, but Disney should be ashamed of their lack of attention to its live entertainment.

The atmosphere of the place is very special but the rest is disappointing (with the caveat I only had dinner there once during its opening week so perhaps it's improved. The grounds are beautiful (especially at night) and the location can't be beat. The lobby seems to be a love it or hate it kind of thing (some claim it smells like a swamp) but I love it and find it uniquely Disney. I always enjoy Ohana, and the Tambu Lounge is the best hotel bar on property. Midway Mania is just plain fun. Is it a GREAT attraction as defined by those who define such things? No... it is essentially just an overgrown video game. But it is the only WDW attraction I will wait in line over 45 minutes for... that has to count for something.

I would also put turkey legs above Dole Whips. As far as the rope drop and Toy Story Midway Mania, to me those aren't overrated because my kids really like them. I could see how someone without kids wouldn't get them though.

How did I forget about that one. I don't even think the atmosphere is special. It's clear the spaces they used were not meant to be eaten in, and they do not feel natural

I was always told how bad Europeans are at DLP and then the exact same things happen at WDW as well. I give you credit for not smoking in the parks, but queue jumping was also a problem, pushing when meeting charcters happened as well, especially with parents and their kids and people trying to squeeze in during the parades way common as well.

Originally Posted By Kennesaw Tom When it comes to the Poly, I understand the hotel and it's odd layout. My major dislike is that in the Great Ceremonial House all the important stuff is on the 2nd floor. I always thought the building had bad flow. You enter from the 1st floor. Exit the building to go to your rooms or pool on the first floor. But, the restaurant and monorail access are on the 2nd floor. And then there is a gift shop on the 1st floor and another gift shop on the 2nd floor. Weird. My other big gripe is that the front of the resort is facing easily one of the biggest parking lots in the world, with 12,213 parking spaces. And the only thing separating the resort from that sea of asphalt is 25 feet of road. You'd think Disney would have put "some" green space as a buffer zone between the Poly and the Magic Kingdom parking lot. It isn't as if WDW couldn't spare an acre or even 1,000 acres. By day it's a sea of asphalt, by night it is one of the most lit up areas on the planet. Easily rivaling the Orlando International Airport. Basically it is a resort situated at the end of the World's largest parking lot. I really don't see the big deal about the Dole Whips. If you don't like the taste of canned pineapple, don't buy one. To me a bigger issue would be the blatant lack of menu items at sit down restaurants. When family and friends return home from a vacation at WDW raving about the macaroni and cheese, things are grim on property.
