The story goes that they maintain a waiting list of thousands of people wanting to drop $10k or more on being a "private member". A new spot in DCA to absorb some of this potential BIG revenue sounds like a sure bet to me. The question then becomes will this new private club room be separate and distinct from a more publicly accessible dining room, or would it be a discreetly separated but still share the same space? I'm guessing completely walled off to itself - they've got to give the VIPs a feeling of exclusivity. But it makes sense in another way too - if they're going to put in a full kitchen and services to support an upscale dining room, might as well have two dining rooms and double your volume. This sounds very believeable to me. As for `Mater - jamboree, spin, whatever.
Originally Posted By Dabob2 <Mater's attraction at DCA is now Mater's Junkyard Spin rather than Jamboree> Not a biggie, but I dislike this. They already have "spin" in a couple of attraction names (Roger Rabbit, Buzz at the MK), and "spinner" is usually a pejorative term among theme park geeks. Also, it's not even particularly accurate. Mater's looks to be more interesting than a simple spinner, and "jamboree" is a more interesting title. Plus, CBJ no longer exists at DL, so it's a perfectly good unused word!
Originally Posted By gmaletic I can see why they changed it; "Jamboree" might be confusing for guests, since it's not a musical show, it's a spinning ride. Plus, the name would get a bit cumbersome to say..."Junkyard Spin" is less of a mouthful.

We all know that they decided to build the theater without first deciding what would be inside. Since Disney loves film-based attractions so much, why not build an actual THEATER inside the theater building??? Yes, I'm annoyed. I don't go to theme parks for the food. This news kinda stinks.

No idea why they don't: it's cheap, teaches some Disney history, encourages DVD sales, and would be a godsend to a lot of parents...kids, too.

Why not have continuous showtimes? Cut back on the crowding. Give the APs something to come out for on weeknights. Sell popcorn, nachos, gummy junk and sugar water at even MORE inflated prices. I just don't get why they don't try some version of this, either in that building or somewhere else in the resort area. I'd be there. A LOT.

More specifically an explanation of how Walt came to California from Kansas and established his film studio. It could be done through the use of props, artwork, and on the menu.

And doesn't understand Disney nomenclature? I remember when I worked at WDW, other cast members would get very bent out of shape if they saw Eisner or other Walt Disney Company executives out in the park without their Disney name tags on.

It was a proposal from Disney that was sent out to members on the wait list for Club 33, inviting them to be charter members of the Carthay Circle Club. Here what it said: "As Members enter through the private entry to the Carthay Circle Club they will find themselves in The Animators Lounge, where Walt and the Disney animators would have come to relax and swap stories. You can practically hear the animators delivering their latest story pitch. In the lounge you enjoy music as you sip a cocktail created from a unique menu of specialty cocktails created just for Club Members while your table is being prepared upstairs. Upstairs in the Carthay Circle Club members enjoy a contemporary open floor plan where architectural details blend wrought iron, thick stucco walls, and Spanish tile with clean lines, translucent panels and atmospheric lighting to create a warm and comfortable ambiance paying homage to the rich history of California. Take a seat in a comfortable booth where on one side you can see into the open show kitchen where talented chefs prepare your meal, while on the other vista you can gaze out through tall windows towards the terraces and sky. In the center of the dining room sits the Tower Room featuring a crafted arched ceiling encircled by photos and historical artifacts from Walt's earliest accomplishments as a young animator. As you gaze out at the new Buena Vista Street and watch Guests entering Disney's California Adventure you contemplate what Club Member benefit you'll enjoy next. Maybe you'll take advantage of preferred viewing for Disney California Adventure's new World of Color show or the parade. Maybe you and your Guests will enjoy visiting one or both Disney theme parks and experiencing a favorite attraction as part of your meal. As you head downstairs, you stop in the lounge to enjoy a dessert while you make a decision. How do you join? Only Carthay Circle Club members can enjoy these great benefits but as a member of the Club 33 wait list you'll enjoy a special invitation to be among the founding members of Carthay Circle Club at a starting rate of $10,450 initiation and $3,275 annual dues. See you at the club."
