This one has local Glendale, California artist Megan Brain who has created 3-dimentional paper sculptures of Disney characters that are turned into models or puppets with computer animation. The result is very fun and very unique when it is projected onto a giant water screen.</p> <p style="text-align: center;"> <object height="265" width="437" data="http://www.viddler.com/simple_on_site/3ab9b4b" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"> <param name="id" value="viddler" /> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /> <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /> <param name="flashvars" value="fake=1" /> <param name="src" value="http://www.viddler.com/simple_on_site/3ab9b4b" /> <param name="name" value="viddler" /> <param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /> </object> </p> <p> </p>

I think they will translate to the water screens nicely because they are pretty simple shapes that don't require fine details (like outlines drawn on traditional animation) to be seen for the motion to make sense. I'm also really excited to see how the stampede scene from the Lion King looks, since they had some concept art for it a while ago that looked like tribal tattoos. I can't wait to see how it all turns out. And I think the most interesting part of this whole thing was the clip at the end of them running tests of the show. Having the little splashes of water jumping up all over the grid in different colors is a really neat, but simple effect. You know deep down inside that they're coming from different nozzles, but it's still a 'wow' moment from a technical standpoint. I'm really hoping that they get this show up and running before I leave California...
