Add to that the fact that many of the parks have cut back on parking CM's and trams so its a double rip off. Last week we parked our car at EPCOT and no trams were running at all. It wasnt till we came out later that day that a single tram was running. When we parked there were 2...count them 2...CM's parking cars. How on God's green earth can Disney justify an increase to $9???? Not that I dont begrudge them something to upkeep the lots (though personally I think its part of doing business) but $9????

I realise its not going to change but if you think it through for a bit you can see my point. You go to EPCOT and park. It costs $9.00. Why are you there? To go into Disney's EPCOT. Who owns all the land? Disney. Is there any other reason to park at EPCOT? Nope, just to go into EPCOT. And at EPCOT, for instance, there will be minimal staffing and no trams until late morning and even then just one. Sorry but in my opinion $9 is a rip off. I could probably live with $4 or $5 but in reality I feel that the parking lots are part of doing business. How would you feel if Walmart started to charge for parking because they offer low prices?

They could have express lanes to enter each lot, of course.

I dont think you can compare the cost of commuting to work (tolls, parking, buses or trains) with driving to what was once swamp land in Florida and parking your car on Disney property to go into a Disney park (you can insert Sea World or Universal here too). The average American wouldnt think of paying to park to go to your local Walmart, local movie theater, local Olive Garden but we dont blink an eye when Disney charges $9 to park your car in their lot to go to their park.

All I see here is negativity. If things are so bad there, why is Disney still the number one vacation resort in all the world....year after year? Because they do things right, and better than everyone else in the world.....consistantly. The public today is not the public it was in 1955. Tastes change. Attitudes change. What they like and want is dramatically different now. I'm not saying I accept it all but, the reality is, if you want to stay in the game, you better change to meet the expectations of todays mentality, or they will go elsewhere. Change is seldom comfortable for older folks (like me). They tend to be reluctant to changes. They prefer an older, more gentle approach. I do too but.....Changes are inevitible.
