<p>Reservations open today (October 15) for Disney's Animal Kingdom "Wild Africa Trek", a three-hour, expert-led adventure for groups no larger than 12 trekkers that will offer the chance to more deeply explore the Harambe Reserve. Among adventure highlights the trekkers while safely harnessed will navigate a seemingly precarious rope bridge over the Safi River or venture to the edge of a cliff to get close to the hippos and crocodiles below. Tours begin in January.</p>
<p>"Adventure-minded guests will have the experience of a lifetime as they get immersed in an authentic African safari experience that only Disney can deliver,&rdquo; said Michael Colglazier, vice president of Disney's Animal Kingdom. &ldquo; We are thrilled to be offering this unique outdoor adventure aimed at active vacationers, taking interactions with the incredible animals that inhabit the Harambe Reserve to the next level and literally blazing new trails in our park.&rdquo;</p>
<p>Pricing for this unique adventure will vary seasonally. Guests who reserve a booking from Jan. 16-Feb. 26, 2011, may take advantage of an introductory offer starting at $129. Park admission is required for participants.</p>

To be an authentic African safari, wouldn't it need to actually be in Africa?

But, on the other hand, the safari is the only attraction I consider worth visiting at DAK, so I guess they might as well try to milk it for all it's worth and more.

The rates start at 130 bucks.. For 60 bucks-ish more I'd rather spend the whole day (8+ hrs) at Discovery Cove...

I saw some construction for this when I was there recently.

I did wonder what happened to all the crocodiles as they were all moved and missing on KS.

They still have a good reputation.

In MOST circles I would venture to say. The general public still thinks Disney is paramount, even though there is a tinge of doubt these days...
