They started as front line cast members out there in the Parks working with guests. It's so sad to see these folks being laid off. And worst of all their experience is seen as a handicap, because they insist on doing things the old (expensive) way. Corporate America is about cutting corners in order to achieve stratospheric profits (and it doesn't help that the veterans are the best paid in their sections). They give lip service to customers, but in reality they hold customers in contempt as well.

Those people have been there a long time and therefore probably get paid more then the people that are being hired below them. They can lay them off and then hire someone else to do the job for cheaper. The same thing happened to my fiance back in December. They laid him off even though he was one of the more knowledgeable, qualified employees because he was paid more then a lot of the other people there. He still hasn't found anything.

I guess burgers and tacos are cheaper. Last summer I was able to get same day ressies at the BB and even saw empty tables. I would guess that people are economizing. I also wouldn't be surprised if they were eating more meals off property too.
