and proved it by ignoring her supporters, only to concede minutes later after sending them all home.

They *both* sucked, as much as she was very much the lesser of two evils.

Let's all work together to make sure such a Sophie's Choice is never put in front of us again!

He's the one that I actually think might have changed the outcome, sorry Bernie supporters. But given the death of his son, I don't fault him for chosing not to run.

Clinton hasn't conceded yet. It should be soon though.

She called Trump and conceded minutes after sending Podesta out (private or otherwise, it was a chump move if you ask me...he'd WON and everyone knew it, and her people were desperate and in tears and she said "screw them", I'll deal with that later). Not very presidential.

    They both sucked.

Should you happen to be seeing this right now, Hillary's concession speech will be appearing at this link any second now.

The only way we can is by having both the Reps and Dems split so that the radicals on each side have their own parties, allowing the more pragmatic, centrist elements in each party a stronger voice. As it stands right now, the passion (and the money) is on the irrational extremes of both sides so political candidates can't ignore them. We need a way to give them a louder voice, but a less influential one. Otherwise, we are likely to see worse in the years to come.

    Meh.

She could've given the same damned speech last night.

Let's face it, Trump didn't believe most of what he was saying and is a complete buffoon. Imagine a candidate that rallies all the ignorant, racist people in our country who actually believes that stuff and is capable of doing what he says?? That would be worse, far worse.

This, exactly. I'm going to go ahead and make a statement that I'm pretty sure I made some time ago (possibly here) ... and may have even disavowed it since then, but I think I was right the first time:

    Cruz would've been worse.

He has most of the same catastrophic bugs, and the same authoritarian streak, except he's not a bumbling idiot. Trump at least can be manipulated by smarter people, who have less terrible ideas of how the world should work.

It just took me a little while to find it on CNN and ABC News.

She said "Screw them, I'll deal with that later"? I'm not finding that quote anywhere.

Eh. She's not a machine. Maybe she was so exhausted and emotional that she felt she would have burst into tears. Had she made her concession speech yesterday morning. And she didn't want to do that.

Lacking class? Maybe look across the way at pussy grabber.

Based on what I've seen about what they had elaborately choreographed for that event, in terms of lighting and cameras and effects, I think it's very possible that they couldn't have done it if they wanted to - like, they literally didn't have a contingency plan for "what if she has to concede?"

If so (and given that they wouldn't have had even the bare bones of a speech for her), they perhaps decided to wait until Wednesday, which would also be right in line with their control-freak reputations. I mean, what does an ad-libbed concession speech by a gobsmacked Hillary Clinton sound like?

All just speculation, natch. You might be right, X.

Indeed that may be so. And it sort of goes hand in hand with the rumor that "they were popping champagne corks on the plane the night before", and to the hubris we were faced with from that side. No candidate should ever go into the election night assuming they're a sure thing. If they were genuinely still "waiting it out" as her surrogate claimed, that'd be one thing, but her phone call to Trump minutes later defies that assumption.

Anyway, water under the bridge. It's over. I just thought she could've handled it better. And not for Trump's sake, nor even the nation's, but for the folks who worked hard for her and believed in her and probably wanted to see her that night (the way it usually goes).
