Besides, the machine guns are triggered by squeaky toys, so, there you are! (I do agree that the age thing is highly problematical. I would have prefered some passing reference to a Fountain of Youth or some such. In fact, I was fully anticipating it.)

We are definitely more over-protective now-adays than back when we were kids.

In terms of Muntz's age, it could either be explained by the concept that he was incredibly young when he disappeared (around 25, with Carl being 10 so a difference of 15 years) which would make him around 87-90 depending on the age of Carl. It would make feasible sense that he could be somewhat strong under an intense situation considering he spends most of his time sitting in his zeppelin. Once could also easily infer there is some sort of increase of lifespan living in the remote jungles, perhaps due to a specific diet. At any rate, there have been people who have lived in their 90s who seem fairly spry. If you watch the movie carefully, Charles does very little physical action until the end when he holds the sword. In that scene his back quickly gives out anyway. The only other particularly strong thing Charles does is break down the door at the end of the movie, which already must have been quite damaged from the storm and various times the house was dropped.

A collar that turns a dog's thoughts into English is one thing. Something to boost the native intelligence of a dog to the point that it can cook, buttle, and fly planes - that's a whole nuther thing. One doesn't really lead to the other, if we're being picky. >I have fanwanked it that Carl isn't as old as he looks.< Fanwanked?
