Heck, even commodity guru Jim Rogers, chairman of Rogers Holdings and not a historical dollar bull, is buying the dollar these days. At midday on Tuesday, $1.3582 bought one euro, a gain of about 10% for the dollar since December 2009." And yes, I'm going to give you crap about the global economy. The US is not an island. If the other major nations go down, we're all going to follow the same path. We are all interconnected now.

I was put on orders for Germany thus I live here. Don't get me wrong, Europe is a great place to live, but you won't see them trying to bail us out...ever... There is a pretty good chance, the German Chancellor is going to lose her job over this Greece bailout disaster as a majority of Germans I have talked to and who have made their opinions known are against this bailout... Global economy is a joke, because as of now, China is picking apart other economies at will....

I do believe it would be tough to garner support for some kind of bail out of the US with European voters. However, I think that if such a scenario became reality and the economic decline of the US were to drag the Euro nations along with it, those nations would have no other choice but to help us, and therefore they would.

When our economy was crashing they entered into billions ( trillion+ ) of currency swaps to help keep the dollar stable.

My concern here is that an emerging GOP talking point is using the "bail out" term to incite resentment against - not Europe, but the Obama administration. Global economics is a complicated issue, and I admit that I don't fully understand it myself. But the thumbnail version is that the US is signatory to an international treaty that seeks to prevent financial collapse around the world - and we have been for decades now. As a result, we are one part of a multi-national effort to avoid financial collapse in Europe. But this complicated issue will be used as political fodder to agitate the republican base against our own government. These people won't understand the specifics and details, only that "Obama is bailing out Greece"! Remember, these are the same people that are resentful of Obama bailing out the US banks, even though it was actually Bush that did it.
