    Recap: protesting in Libyan cities. Unlike Egypt, the military has been ordered to fire on its own citizens, resulting in 100s of deaths. Also, they have been ordered to bomb weapons depots to prevent protesters from arming themselves, and the oil fields. But some military personal are unwilling to comply. Defections to Malta, pilots ejecting and crashing their planes, etc.

    I must say on my predictions for 2011, I did not have "fall of oppressive regimes in North Africa."

    These protests have been amazing. It's like a domino effect. Unfortunately not all of them are going well. To stand up for your rights, despite the military potentially killing you takes some serious guts.

    Richard Engle had a good piece on how this is VERY different from Egypt. The Egyptian protesters were unarmed civilians who really just wanted Mubarek to step down peacefully. That's how they saw it ending. The Libyans have essentially organized their own parallel army and are looking for it to end with Ghadaffi swinging from the highest tree.

    Yeah, I think he's running scared at this point. He was supposed to go on national TV there, but instead just did the phone interview for 20 minutes, sounding like somebody's disgruntled grandpa. He's so out of touch, and sounding a bit...crazy?
