"Rush, thank you so much. I thank you for the opportunity, of course this is not exactly the way to I wanted to come on. ... Mainly, I want to express to you and all your listeners my very sincere regret for those comments I made yesterday to Politico. ... I clearly ended up putting my foot in my mouth on some of those comments. ... I regret those stupid comments."

My favorite quote from the article was by Congressman Grayson: "However, not all members of Congress are as weak as Gingrey. Democratic freshman congressman Alan Grayson from Florida, for example, did not hold back in expressing his views of Limbaugh, stating, "Rush Limbaugh is a has-been hypocrite loser, who craves attention. His right-wing lunacy sounds like Mikhail Gorbachev, extolling the virtues of communism. Limbaugh actually was more lucid when he was a drug addict. If America ever did 1% of what he wanted us to do, then we'd all need pain killers."

Pretty soon, the entire party will be as irrelevant as he is.

That's the narrative of the MSM. <Pretty soon, the entire party will be as irrelevant as he is.> That's probably what a lot of Democrats thought in 1992.

At least, I certainly don't recall hearing any sentiments remotely like that. Of course, the GOP was nowhere near as damaged or marginalized by the fringes then as it is now.

Even worse, the parts that could be argued honestly were enacted by a republican administration that you supported right through to their dying gasp. So if you're going to be looking at examples like the semi-nationalization of the banks and the auto industry, physician heal thyself first. The big difference between Obama's bailout and Bush's bailout will be the transparancy and accountability. We were promised that the last go-round would have these requirements but somehow that never happened. We'll never know exactly where that $350+ billion went. When asked about any benefits derived by the US taxpayer, all that's offered is that the markets didn't calamatously implode. To some, that's value. To me, it smells like highway robbery - "be thankful they didn't kill you" after they rob you blind.
