Using these I was able to get a 2 room suite at the Marriott Townplace suites on Katella (closer to the stadium than DLR, but we will have a car) for $79 a night in early August. The regular price was $129.

In the past I have been able to get pretty good deals using corporate codes. I would share our codes with you, but the hotel can ask for proof of employment when checking in (no one has ever asked in the past, but who knows).

Anyway, you might want to check with your employer to see if they offer the same benefit.

My favorites... "We read the reviews after booking on Hotline." And "We read the reviews shortly before leaving for our trip."

DUHHHHHH! How about checking things out prior to booking?

This reminds me of the time I was traveling cross-country with my parents. We were on the tail end of our trip, heading north from Asheville, NC. We decided to head up the Blue Ridge Parkway, and stop somewhere along the way before our final destination of Alexandria, VA. Making some phone calls, we had trouble finding an available room for a reason I can't remember. But we finally found a cheap place, after picking up a flyer at a rest stop and calling a motel in Roanoke, VA. I have the flyer somewhere, but anyway, one of the photos showed a man in a white shirt and bow tie holding a tray, as if to say, "we're here to serve you!" I think there were some other photos showing some of the features too, but the guy is all I remember.

So, we get to Roanoke, and the place is... bad. So bad that we joke about it to this day. The pool water was green. The beds were just about like the beds in the I Love Lucy episode when they stopped at a motel driving cross-country, i.e. well-worn. The carpet had a bare spot where someone had put an iron down. The toilet had a round seat on an oval bowl and was loose. The faucet permanently leaked. The B/W TV had a remote, but it didn't work. Best of all, in the wee hours of the morning, you could hear screaming and yelling and other strange noises. My guess is one or two people we murdered or raped that night.

Now I'm gonna have to pull out the trip video and laugh.

Or maybe it was some drug deals gone bad. At least the lock on the door worked.

I now always stay across the street at Super 8 for about the same price by using AARP discount through what used to be Triprewards.com but now is Wyndham Rewards.

Good thing. The Little Boy Blue is a mess. Cows in the meadow... sheep in the corn.
