Ick. This just looks weird. It certainly doesn't look like any color combination that actually would have been used in Victorian times, and it's not even a particularly pleasant combination to contemporary tastes. It does look like it will blend well with the SF buildings across the way (which are way too over-the-top in the color department as well), but it just doesn't work for me. The background color is too plain, and the accent colors are too intense. It just doesn't seem to balance right. In the context of the whole Mermaid building, it does look a little better, but I'm still not really impressed with it. It also looks like the bright blue roof will be staying; I had been hoping that it was some sort of protective film that was covering up a special finish underneath during construction. There was a lot of potential, but I am just not a fan of the direction they decided to take. No wonder they waited so long to start repainting the dome; they knew what was coming.

Actually I think the color scheme fits in too much. It was better before when it was more distinct. Oh well, it'll probably change eventually.

And honestly, nothing fits that bill more than the teal used all over Paradise Pier. I'm still shocked that they haven't touched the stores between the Maliboomer and ferris wheel, but the light poles that stretch the length of the area also need to be replaced before we can really take the effort seriously.

Even by itself, the rotunda doesn't have the greatest set of colors possible. Moreover, the very bright blue color of the LM building's rooftop doesn't seem right either. Is this the ghost of DCA 2001 still haunting aspects of the park? BTW, the statue of King Triton at the top of the new LM building looks a bit too small against the overall mass of the structure it sits on. That is strangely in marked contrast to the light fixtures -- which are like street lights cut off at the top -- sitting on top of the WOC seating area's gateway. The columns of those lights are too squat and bulky. I wanted to say there have been a variety of odd miscues over the past 10 years involving this Disney park compared with the other one built and completed in 2001. But with the catastrophic earthquake a few weeks ago affecting things like DisneySea -- and worrying what's in our future here in California -- such matters do have to be filtered through a different perspective.

Changes tend to happen as a natural course of building maintenance.

Either way, it's goot to know that there will be a change of hands coming up, so maybe they will be able to repaint it relatively soon. Though the original paint job did last 10+ years (including the time that it was complete before the park opened), so I'm not holding my breath on it happening too soon.
