The day she got home, her mom called and said that a package from Disney had just been delivered for her at her parents' house. Her first thought was that it was related to her recent DL trip. But it was strange that it was addressed to her using her maiden name, and sent to her childhood home. When they opened the box, it contained a purse she had lost at Epcot 17 years earlier when she was 14. It contained a very nice note, letting her know that they were recently cleaning (or something like that, my sister relayed the story) and found her purse. It still had all of her belongings in it, as well as the $80 that was in the wallet. She had left the purse behind at a show, and ran right back in to find it but could not. It never turned up at lost and found that day. I thought that was a great story. What a great way to end a week that had already been filled with all things Disney!

We are west coasters and I usually read/post on in the DL sections. Just wondering if anyone else had any good WDW Lost and Found stories to share.

Mr. X, I guess that proves WDW is filthy, if it took them 17 years to finally dig it up. LOL

As a member of the WDW Guest Relations team in the late 80s, Lost & Found was staffed by our department.

Mary and Cathy were the two women who were leads there -- Mary had been there for many, many years -- and they did a fantastic job of sorting things, tossing out the 'junk' and yes, packing up wallets and other items for return to their respective owners.

I don't know where Lost & Found is located now, but back then it was out at TTC, sort of stuffed in a small room.

Steel storage cabinets were stacked high to the ceiling with junk -- old strollers, umbrellas, hats, plush, and other assorted stuff. It was like a big garage.

And even with all the organization, I can understand how a wallet could have slipped behind a shelving unit and sat, undisturbed, for 17 years.

When my son was 1 1/2 we went to WDW and he had his favorite hat. When we got home we noticed it was no longer with us. We were pretty sad because my son was attached to that hat, and I'd gotten kind of attached to it as it was always with us. The next day we received a package from WDW. It was his hat. We had accidently left it in the hotel room. DS was soooo happy.

I agree stitchcrazy. I bet she had so much fun looking at things that she never thought she would see again. Plus who wouldn't want an $80 windfall!

Interesting Jim in Merced. I bet the WDW lost and found is a treasure trove.

I'm afraid that even on my worst day, I could never be that obsessive.

I know they have a Central Lost & Found and that is where everything goes once a week or something like that if it's even found at all (I have lost sunglasses at Ft Wilderness before and my "Rufus" plush at Magic Kingdom (I think) and they were never found, oth, earrings that I hadn't realized I had lost were found at our hotel resort and mailed back to us! I guess it's all in the luck of when & how it's found).
