My sisters and I think this is such a slap in the face to unsuspecting guests who don't stop to consider how limited the viewing is for this. It only works for those who know where to stand for the fireworks and who also get there early enough to secure a decent place to view. Too many other guests are left disappointed as they realize--too late--that this is a royal rip off by Disney management in it's never-ending quest to be greedy!!

Seems like a very bad idea, and as we can see here leads to some unhappy customers.

Another poorly planned money grab on Disney's part, apparently.

Having said that, we still enjoy the Disney theme parks or we wouldn't be going back. It's just a matter of being educated on what's worth paying for and what isn't.

I read the whole article and have watched the fireworks before it became a pay for location...So in my opinion Melissa and the Witched are both correct... and she does "imply" the need to be aggressive to position for prime viewing. Mellissa just sugarcoats it since it is mentioned as part of her employment at AllEArs Travel. The Witched don't have to sugarcoat anything for us to get the message.

Consumers aren't dumb, and most of us can see when we are being sold something. And I'm not buying it.

I believe the Witches and their real world experience more than I believe a travel agent trying to drum up business on the Internet.

Lucky for us , we have no hope of ever getting included in the special parties and advance notices for those special events and announcements. Therefore we tell it like it is!

Even the special seating and dessert event at Epcot for Illuminations is over-priced and not worth it--in this coven's humble opinion. We did that one once--and that was enough. Why spend money you don't have to spend when you can still see the fireworks and Illuminations?

As the Witches pointed out, one of my absolute favorite things about Illuminations is that there's such a huge viewing area (over a mile of 'waterfront' walkways) that you'll rarely have any trouble getting a front row seat. Compare that with DL's Fantasmic!, which probably only has about 600' of waterfront seating. Plus, Illuminations was designed as an 'in the round' experience, so it really works from almost any angle (unlike WOC, where you really need to be centered on the screens).

In general, I tend to think of fireworks shows the same way. They're up in the sky, and can be seen from almost any angle. The current shows all look better from in front of the castle, but you can still see them from all over the park. It's a shame they don't play the music in more areas, since there are some really nice quiet areas (like in front of Big Thunder) with nice views and no crowds.

If there's ever a time I have an interaction with a witch, I'll be sure to heed your advice.
